A few of my latest models

Hi fellas, apparently it's been nearly two years since my last post so figured I ought to show my face again!

These are a few of my latest models. Since I was last here I've started doing commission work, as well as having some work published in various UK magazines and books which was a huge milestone as a modeller.

So, starting with my latest:

Tamiya's new tool 1/48 Spitfire Mk.I. built as a commission. Simply the best kit I've ever had the pleasure of assembling. Sublime.

Another Tamiya kit, this time their long OOP 1/24 Jaguar MkII built as Marwood's Jag from the 1987 film Withnail & I. I even managed to cram some LEDs and a battery in this thing.

Kitty Hawk's 1/48 Su-34 Fullback, destined for a future issue of Scale Aviation Modeller Int. magazine.

Hobby Boss's 1/35 T-28 with a few resin additions.

Eduard's rebox of Hasegawa's 1/48 F-8E Crusader with just about every Eduard aftermarket set too. This was featured in an issue of Model Aircraft Monthly magazine, as well as a Modellers' Datafile book by the same publisher.

An absolute bargain at £7, this is the Hobby Boss 1/48 Mig-17 built as a Polish Lim-6 using Model Maker decals.

MiniArt's 1/35 Mercedes L1500 with Blackdog Resin stowage, Panzer Art resin bonnet & radiator cover, and an Evolution Miniatures driver. This was actually the build that got me started with magazine work.

1/32 Revell Tornado ECR converted to a GR1 using various aftermarket parts. This was a monster of a build but well worth the end result. Featured on the cover of a Model Aircraft Monthly mag last year.

And finally Tamiya's beautiful 1/48 F-16CJ stacked to the gills with aftermarket. This had the Eduard Big Ed and Big Sin sets thrown at it, along with an Olimp decal and weapons set. Built for an F-16 book by Airmark.

Welcome back to Subsim. :sunny:

The models are exceptional. The Jag looks like it has seen many miles and I like the patina theme. The Spitfires are awesome as well. The T-28 and Mercedes L1500 likewise have a paint scheme showing hard use. The modern aircraft look as though you could strap in and fly away.
All in all, great work. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Good stuff! The MiG with the engine exposed especially appeals to me.

That is some out-frikken-standing work! :D
Your weathering isn't hiding anything, it makes the subject look like it belongs in its genre. Not too heavy (depending on the subject) and not too light.

Amazing! Seriously, the Spitfire looks better than the ones from "Dunkirk" - not sure if they were CG or real, but yours has some nice weathering added.

Stunning work!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Got another Tamiya Spitfire ticked off the list last weekend, this time the old Mk.Vb. I used the Montex Polish Spitfire mask set for the markings on this, otherwise built straight from the box. Hard to believe Tamiya released this kit 24 years ago! Still one of the best around.

Yes Truly a master piece I hope I can do it as good as you have.

When I saw the pictures of your spitfire I came to think of this model-It's not expensive.

Huh, well apparently it's been another 3 years since my last post :haha:

Thanks very much for the kind comments guys.

I've been fairly busy in the meantime with various other projects, I'll post a few below soon :)

So, going all the way back to June 2020, I'd been working through a hefty slew of commission builds revolving around the 1/32 Gulf War Tornado GR1 in the first post that a customer had previously purchased. This Aerobonus SM-340 would be one of a few pieces I built to sit on a large airfield diorama alongside the Tonka.

It's an interesting full resin kit, largely very good with nice fitting parts. The cab was the only difficult bit with quite some warping and dodgy cast parts, but it turned out well in the end. Really fun build!

Very nice! When you say commission, do you mean you build models for hire?
