Galaxy S4 problem

I have had a Galaxy S4 mobile phone (GT-i9505) for years and have had no problems with it. My wife wanted a phone so I purchased a new S4, same model, and purchased a pre-paid sim and SD card. I set it up similar to mine and was going ok for a couple of weeks but now has a fault.
When she calls anyone their phone rings but when they answer it is dead, no sound, also if anyone phones her and she answers it is dead!!
What is strange is that she can SMS with no problems, also data works fine, it is only voice phone calls.

Anyone have any ideas?:hmmm:

PS. I know this is a way out question for Subsim readers but I have been stumped by this for days now.

She can't hear anything the other person says?

Or they can't hear her?

If she rings them they answer but is dead on either end, if they call her the same thing. I find this weird since SMS texting is fine, just wondering if it is a fault with the phone, some software fault or the phone company, the latter is a pain to contact!!

Some suggestions from the comments of a YouTube user having the same problem:

Quote:

open the call icon (the green square with a phone disign) click on the far low left button of the phone, click on call settings, then My call sound, then My call sound setting and choose 'clear sound'...that was the problem for me...
Quote:

Just pull the battery out for about 1 1/2 to 2 mins and then put it back in and then it should work
Quote:

Turn off the "Turn Off Screen During Call" and "Noise Suppression" works for me..
Quote:

Take a skinny metel rod or metal anything that will fit in the hole where you plug headphones in and play music and wiggle the rod till it starts to play it, it sounds stupid but it works

I had this problem and like a previous comment I turned the phone off removed the battery and sim. The phone worked fine when I put it all back together and turned it back on.

first one thing i own glaxy 3 same problem you have had it may be a hardware problem or a softwear problem, first try to replace the sim card it may be faulty.... second it may be a thrid party softear taking over your phone settings, like viber that offer free calls ,i find takinging out the battery, and sim card will reset and it will work.... you may need to do a factory reset if all fails good luck
...seems like removing the battery/sim and restarting solved it for a few people.

You could also try updating the firmware:

Hi, thanks for the info, I tried the first one, call settings, but there is no "clear sound" only a list of sounds to choose from. I then tried removing the battery and it worked!!!:D
I don't want to try updating, I did that on my phone and ended up with Lollypop, had to root the phone and install Kitkat again.:yep:

Again, Many Thanks!

Well it lasted a little while, took the battery out again but didn't fix it this time.:hmmm:

Hmmm ... well, I don't know. With so many people seeming to have the same problem with the S3, I'd be inclined to say that maybe it's a manufacturing defect. However, My wife and I both have Samsungs (J3 and J7, respectively) and have not experienced such a problem. And ours are the "budget" models.

I gave it a factory reset and it worked twice and the problem is back so I give up!!
I will try and send it back for a change over. :hmmm:

Will be the best idea i guess.. :hmmm:
My wife's S4 always shuts down just so, it hums and vibrates, and then shuts off.
Also a "known problem" my donkey, do something you freaks :nope:

The reason I purchased a new S4 was because my old S4 is about 5 years old an has always worked 100%, couldn't be happier that is why I chose another for my wife!! Well it's being posted today, being less than a month old have no issues sending it back.
