I found this clip of a guitarist doing a version of the Hendrix classic Little Wing and was impressed by her skills; it is also nice that she made a nod to Hendrix's habit of ''tipping the hat' to other artist's songs in live performances (Jimi would throw in a few bars of songs like The Beatles' Day Tripper or Sinatra's Strangers In The Night in the middle of some of his solos when playing live) by quoting A Day In The Life...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_AKuMj6JX4 Her voice also has hints of Grace Slick in its tone... ...I also found this interesting clip from Howard Stern (a huge Hendrix fan), a compilation of noted musicians' recollection and thoughts on Jimi Note: there is a small bit of brief "bad" language, so listen at your own peril) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQfiT_EWKTo ...here's the finale of Jimi's Monterey Pop performance; note he wasn't using any pedals during this number; all the sounds were just Jimi's fingers, the guitar unmodded, and the Marshall amp driven to its very limit... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVN8_7wVSG0 ...when I first saw the film in my younger, learning days, I spend hours and hours trying to figure out how Jimi was able to get such a clear single note run (starts at about 2:26 into the clip) while still thrashing out those crushing chords; I eventually did come up with a solution... <O> |
While on the thought of truly great guitarists, here is one of whom I can say may really be the only one to be considered as equal to, or maybe even better than, Hendrix...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgYX1XPPbbw Prince, like Hendrix, was more than just a brilliant guitar player; both were highly accomplished songwriters and composers and both were unable to read sheet music and neither had any learned knowledge of music theory; both also seemed to be playing and composing as if the music was just flowing through them from some place other musicians could only hope to reach; Jimi had only 4 years of recording his music to achieve his place in musical history, and Prince was thankfully blessed with 4 decades of recording to make his mark on the musical map and even that long a time was too very short for such a great talent... April 21 ,2024 will mark 8 years since Prince passed away... <O> |

I barely know one end of a guitar from the other so I can't really comment on style and technique, but I do like Nacoco and Moochan, I really like their passion and find them both very visually pleasing :) Nacoco in particular has a great sense of humour too. Her video stories on her website are a hoot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDP9vBbFvDQ |
