Hi Jeff when Onkel Neal had that phone call with Ubisofts Ceo when LSH-2020 came out last year and the Ceo said that SH3 was Abandonware and he did'nt care what modders did with it.
I uploaded a stock SH3 Install to my Mediafire Acount to send that link to Subsim Members that were having trouble installing SH3 in the past I had ten original copies of SH3 that I bought from Woolworths the day before it closed for good but ive given them all away to folks who needed them but that SH3 Dvd on the revival lable is copyable.
When I used to send SH3 Dvds to guys in UK and USA i did't charge them anything but some wanted my address to send me the postage.
Theres nothing worse than wanting your favorite game SH3 to install and run and no matter what you do you can't get it to run we have all been there.
I just wanted to help guys that are having a spot of bother even more so when they have supported Subsim with donations and put their money where thier mouth is.

Hello, I have the same problem. Came back to SH3 after a eigh-year pause; initially played SH3+GWX and it worked fine, then I added the following mods:

1) AAA Ships 1.0
2) LifeBoatsDebris_v4
3) MFM v3 Skin Packs (SH3 Cmdr)
4) Merchant Fleet Mod v3.3
5) SH3 Naval Auxiliaries Mod 1.0

...now the training missions work fine, but if I launch a career mission it crashes to desktop at the end of the loading phase, without any error message.

What did I do wrong?

I'm not familiar with some of those mods, but for starters make sure you have a 4gb patch installed.

I tried to uninstall and then install it again, this time only GWX + Merchant Fleet Mod 3.3 and later GWX + Lifeboat and Debris, patched with 4GB in both cases. It still crashes when loading single missions or career missions...

@blackswan40

I don't care about sending an Original SH3 install with no mods.
I do that myself also.

I take issue with mods that INCLUDE the Basic SH3 install.
Not to mention SOME have already done patches that maybe one does not want!
I don't see that as a Mod. But that is just MY View.

My stance is that IF you send a COMPLETE install THAT includes SH3?
I'll WILL NOT assist with any ISSUES! As I can NOT TRUST the files!

1. Source of your SH3 copy.

2. Location of your SH3 (or in the case of game launcher, such as with, Steam or Ubisoft Connect, just where you have game launcher, it's subsequent games library & game)

2.B. Did you, before running SH3, go into the .exe's "properties" & ensure that write only was un checked & while in that menu, enable it to run in Win 7 mode & "run as admin".?

That step, really needs doing, BEFORE looking at adding in any mods or mod sets... & most definitely, BEFORE running SH3 for the very 1st time, to allow for SH3 to finalize its needed set up process, to ensure that SH3 is set up properly.

3. Are you adding in the mods directly into SH3 or are you using JSGME to activate the mods.?

4. Is this the only copy of SH3 you are working with to mod, or do you have other mod sets.? If so, should really be using MultiSH3 if running more than 1 copy of SH3 modded out, then.

5. Did you patch SH3 with the 4GB patch kit... or use Large Address Aware.?

:hmmm:

Hello,

1. Steam

2. Desktop (I have Windows 10 if that helps)

2.B. No... will try when I get back home

3. I added them directly

4. Only copy

5. 4GB patch

With regards # 2...

Ok, understand source of SH3, is Steam... I know how that works with their games launcher... & the subsequent Games library, since I am also a Steam user.

That said... where did you allow for Steam, to set up house/shop at... was it... as I fear, most have done... & allowed for that step to take place in C:\Program files or is that C:\Program files (x86)..??? :hmmm:

Hello Mad Mardigan,
apparently the issue was either with not selecting the 'compatibility with Windows 7' and/or not using JSGME to install the mods. I deleted and re-installed the game again, carried out those two steps, re-installed the mods with JSGME, and now it works fine. Thanks!
