:yeah: https://inchhighguy.wordpress.com/20...rine-interior/ Again, as on the U-505 at its capture, externally stored 'eels' fared poorly. U-505 toploaded eel after depth-charge damage recieved during capture> https://www.history.navy.mil/content...3105217066.jpg

The IX's were ordered out of the primary Battle of Atlantic theater to safer areas. 'Money (DeutchMarks) is the sinews of war' and the cost of IX's unable to function with their intended 33% increased eel-firepower is a violation of that principle both tactically and strategically.

Man I would love to see this happen. I cannot believe no one has actually done this considering how popular an IX boat is on the spectrum of silent hunter and it baffles me that the actual producers left this out. I just don't understand why the SH3 base upgrades and purchase options are greater than its successor...

I agree with that sentiment - I suspect that they just ran out of time and money after creating full Type VII interiors. I really enjoyed playing Type IX careers in "Aces of the Deep" - and I, too, sorely miss having a Type IX in SH5. I would have even been happy with just the control room and no full interior. I strongly disagree with people who pan the Type IX as too big and unmaneuverable for Atlantic warfare - they were capable boats until the end of the war. :yep:

Work had been undertaken on this project... I don't remember by which talented modder... I suppose the project was stopped by the phenomenal amount of work that it represented... plus this game seems really difficult to mod...:D
