hmm... screenshots look great - way better than what my game looks like. When I'm in external view or on the bridge during the daytime-there is an annoying bright haze to the screen like overdriven sun glare or something - I can't figure out what's causing it, but it looks nothing like the crystal clear outside screenshots I'm seeing in here. I have a ATI 4850 with latest drivers...any ideas what causes this bright/haze/sun glare effect outside?

I have the same card with latest drivers and I have no problem. Maybe it is a monitor fault.:hmmm::hmmm:

@supposedtobeworking

If you can post a screenShot to let us see the fault, I'm sure someone will be able to help you there a great lot here at Subsim:up:

I took some screenshots but photo viewer or paint.net cannot open them and I can't convert to jpg or view them. a google search does not present an easy or apparent solution. any suggestions are appreciated. seems like sh5 should look better on my ATI 4850-I do have a relatively cheap asus LCD monitor that may have something to do with it as well.

what is the photos ending? you can change it by renaming the file to (photo name).jpg

Download irfanview, it is FREE http://www.irfanview.com/

Now right click on your image and choose 'open with'....select irfanview.

The programme will also convert images to an extremely wide range of formats.

That's why I use PhotoBucket. They convert everything to .jpeg automatically.

thanks for the suggestions- I tried irfanview and it opened the bmp images but they were stretched and in black and white for some reason. From what other people are telling me it sounds like the haze I'm seeing is supposed to be fog, and some missions have it and others don't. I did play one sitting where the haze seemed to be absent and things looked pretty good (though still not as crisp as some of the screenshots I see on here).
