Destroyer and helicopters

I'm watching a livestream where a member(I think it is)play our new game Destroyer the U-boat Hunter, when I came to think of Helicopter being a part of a destroyer.

My question

When became these two object so to say one unit. When became helicopters a part of a destroyer or frigate ?

I have tried EVERYTHING to be able to play SHIII on my WIN10 computers-Without luck.

I can play SHII on my former laptop-Altso WIN10.

On this I use now I can play SHIV and SHV-I really don't like these two.

I have been thinking about getting SHIII via steam. I have this fear I would run into same problem.
