yes, where is it... i realy hate this glow

...immersion killer number 1. :stare:
You narrow-minded ones. The "clickable items glow" is the crews' auras. They change colours depending on a number of factors and being able to read them is hugely beneficial. Hopefully some new patch will allow me to dowse for convoys as well.

If they're all the same colour to you, it's because you're a cynical sceptic and full of negative energy.

Dumb jokes aside, though, I want them gone, too;).

no storm clothing and many wrong labels..

The General 02-28-10 06:45 AM

$100 to the first man who spots lightning or an iceberg in the Camapign

Schultzy 02-28-10 06:48 AM

Does the screenshot that I saw floating around of the iceberg in the recognition manual count? If so, I take Paypal. ;)

capthelm 02-28-10 06:53 AM

need the storm weather oil skins , like sh4

Buckster 02-28-10 06:56 AM

lack of the storm clothing wrecks the realism in that shot for me :( would rather they weren't shown - than shown in short sleeves :(

guillaume35 02-28-10 07:02 AM

:woot::woot:4 days and i have my copy of sh5.
nice video`s and screens.
I hope that the mods wil add storm clothing that make it realistic.

jlederer 02-28-10 07:10 AM

Glow

Perhaps there is an INI file setting to get rid of the glow/aura that surrounds clickable things?

Schultz 02-28-10 07:17 AM

Where is a wrong label ?

Wow, really?! I thought I'd seen everything. Wait-a-minute, what would an Iceberg be doing in a Ship Recognition Manual:o? My offer stipulates a screenshot of an iceberg in SH5's Camapign. Link?

Ensign Williams: Captain, I see something on the horizon.

Skipper: Smoke?

Ensign: No Sir, I've never seen anything like it.

Skipper: [Moving to the Ensign's side of the Conn]...Point to it Son.

Ensign: Port-Bow Sir...there.

Skipper: Yeah I see it...My God that's a strange looking vessel! Get me the Reccy Manual Ensign. [Under his breath]Hot Damn, I'd thought I'd seen it all.

manual TDC, but map updates on so I could check out how things work.

It works similar to SH3, but more limited. You can only change torp speed, depth, magnetic/contact, single tube/salvo.

Your XO will give you an estimated solution, but it is a gross approximation and needs to be thoroughly reworked.

You can not manually set gyro angles. They are determined by where you are aiming your scope. A yellow line shows up on the map showing the torpedo path w. time to target range. This allows to aim the torp based on target speed/course.

One nice thing is that you can keep the target "locked" and still rotate the scope.

I have no problem with the way it is designed, it fits in with the design that you are the skipper and not some crewman fiddling with dials.

ReFaN 02-28-10 07:30 AM

Congratulations!

i will have some Becks ready for you when you return!

Wild_skipper 02-28-10 07:43 AM

I can't find where my screenshots are saved :( as for the manual targeting i find it more easy then the auto targeting lol xD

You played full realizm for TDC???
It looks like a epic fail, so if you don't look via periscope u can't change the direction where torpedo fires???:damn:
Where's the enhaced realizm?? Iwant to be ABLE to set approx torp direction with hydrophone indication only.

Ok before my anger explodes , how is speed calculation system designed?

BIG thx for answers in advance.

this is with map updates "on", the yellow line shows the path of your torpedo, the light blue area is what your scope is currently looking at. The dark blue line with the arrow is the plotted course for own sub.

don't forget I am playing with map updates "on" which gives the exact range, course and speed of the ships and in that instance, the ships were only moving at 1-2 knots, so it is not very dificult.

with map updates "off" and ships zigzagging, it will be a different ball game.

I do not not know if you can carry out an underwater attack. My sound guy is only level 1, so he is not very good.

At close distance, aka 1000m even a newb soundwatch should be able to follow a merchant. But i used this way to fire torps in sh3 vs DD cruising around me. I tried to anticipate they circular path on a 5 sec basis and market crosses on my map given the hydro data . Then fired a salvo on approx future position. During the whole war 40-45 in SH3 i sunk a dozen of DD this way and saved my sub from a certain death.

It's not easy, doesn't work every time but as a sign of realism i should be abl to do so. Sh3 allowed this desperate attempt, if sh5 can't, it is NOT an improvement over SH3 in realism. This is what dev promised us, fix some unrealistic methods form sh3 like speed calculation. They promised that Hardcore player will have all the setting to their disposal at 100% realism.
Sh5 is just a different approach to the sub sim, thus it doesn't mean it is more realistic than sh3 was.

Still you played with map notification on, i wonder how full realism difficulty leve looks like.
