Convoy Attack Strategy
 

Hi again, Guys-

Once again I'm very new to the game and to the forums, so please bear with me if my question here sounds kind of noobish. What is the generally preferred strategy when attacking a convoy?

Suppose I have a convoy of 12 merchant vessels with 3 destroyer escorts. Last night I did this and just snuck around the escorts, sink a merchant, pull away to reload, rinse and repeat. I was able to get 3 ships sunk before I had to leave due no more eels. Yes I was super efficient and used aft tube as well between reload runs.

So what do you guys do? Use my method and take out as many as you can while being sneaky? Do any of you just like to try to kill the escorts? I have to admit it was tempting to think about all of that sweet intimate alone time I could have with those merchants once the escorts are out of the way. I'm sure I could kill the first destroyer without a problem, but the other 2 would almost certainly zigzag around and depth charge the area after that. They are so hard to hit once they start circling.
