Help with SH5 TWoS modpack

Hello all, Its been about four years or so since I last showed my face around here in the world of subsims and lately i've been really jonesing to play SH5.

Now I do have past experience with SH5 but that was UNMODDED experience :)

I currently have a fresh install of SH5 with The Wolves of Steel installed and all the sudden it occurred to me that I have no idea what on earth i'm doing. I love how realistic these mods make the game but I cant figure out how to do anything, its all so...overwhelming to a noob such as myself. My question is where can I find an in-depth guide on how to use these mods? Does such guide even exist? if not how can I learn how to use all this? Also do you think i'm biting off more than i can chew going fully modded with not even 9 hours clocked into the base game?

Any help will be much appreciated!

P.S. Playing this game is bringing back found memories of my late father who passed away about a year ago from cancer, some of my best memories was of him and I playing Silent Hunter II when I was about 7 or 8. My father went by the name of WOLFF on these forums but hadn't posted in years (2008 or so).

Hi Wizbomb!:Kaleun_Salute:

First of all, watch these vids by stoianm which will teach you how to navigate using real nav. It's no good if you can't get where you want to go https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33sXTKl4Qt8

Then there are the rest of his video tutorials which should help you with the mods here:- https://www.youtube.com/user/stoianm1/videos

Also the in-game Trevally tutorials included with this mod are invaluable practical lessons for everything you want to know.

It will take some time to learn, but the experience is well worth it as you can now play SH5 very realistically and it is a far cry from what you played last time. Wait till you get that satisfaction when it all comes together and you torpedo your first ship without any help from the arcade-like UI that was in stock game!!

Any questions about any of this, just ask and someone will answer :D

Thanks for the link! I will make sure to check them out when I finally sit down and tame this beast, one more thing though....I have experienced slight stuttering and freezing while playing this game that I only experienced with the mod enabled. It wasn't really that bad but it was noticeable.

Specs:

Win 7 64-bit
Asus Rampage V MOBO
i7 5930k 4.0GHz
2 GTX 980s SLI (I have SLI disabled for SH5 as I hear it doesn't run well)
16GB 2800MHz Corsair Vengeance RAM
