Uhhh... details?? Main thing is, are you referring to the AOTD_MadMax original Fall of the Rising Sun (FOTRS), or the revamped Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate v1.8 (FotRSU)?? We also need to know the install path to your modded game, whether you emptied the Save folder (or used MultiSH4 v1.5), and whether or not you have either the 4Gig Patch or Large Address Aware (LAA) properly enabled on the SH4.exe file. Also, run JSGME and use the link in the middle of its window for "Tasks", "Export activated mod list to -->" and choose "Clipboard". Paste that into your next post. That will have the install path in it. That's just for starters.

Version 1.8

Made some "progress". I can now see the start menu. Problem is- crashes at patrol start.

Have applied the 4g patch which only works on the "gu" file, it can't open SH4.

Have deleted the documents folder. Every time. Crashes every time.

Install path: D/SH4

Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
[D:\SH4\MODS]

FOTRS 8.1
FI-OQ_FotRSU_v1.8f_upcPatch
101_FotRSUv18_FixPak

4gig patch should find any .exe in the folder where it resides. for example, i use LAA (Large address aware).

notice that all .exe appear in the window, whether they are enabled or not.
you should not be limited to just gu.exe.

how does one activate this "large address aware" function?

OK, that "orange" text is most likely your problem now. You have to apply either the LAA or the 4Gig Patch to the SH4.exe file that is in your modded game folder (D:\SH4). Probably what you have to do though is write-enable it. Navigate into your D:\SH4 folder, and find the SH4.exe file. Right-click on it, and choose Properties from the context menu at the bottom. That will open a dialog to the "General" tab. Toward the bottom of that is an Attributes sections with a tick box for "Read-only". Make certain that is clear, if not, click on it to clear the checkmark. While in that Properties dialog, also click on the "Compatibility" tab. You might have to alter some of the settings in there for your computer to be able to properly address the display and other aspects of the game. An example picture on my Win11 machine is this

That 2nd window "High DPI Settings..." is from clicking on the button at the bottom "Change high DPI settings". You are almost guaranteed to have to use that. You most likely will not need that "Program DPI" for scaling at the top of that window. You might or might not have to use "Run this program as an administrator". The "Disable fullscreen optimization is not always needed, but might be, and the Compatibility section may or may not be needed. You will have to experiment, since no two computers are exactly alike... Let us know how you get along. :salute:
