Vista compatible SH lll

Hello,

I've seen SH lll on Amazon that claims to be Vista compatible, that is to say, updated. Can this be true?

Any version of SHIII without the Starforce DRM is fully vista comparable.

I'm not sure how you would check if this one is starforce free, but I believe
most copies on sale are now.

Perhaps someone can confirm that?

By the way, a while ago I tried installing SH3 using the Starforce removal tool and I got an error that said:

To install the application, you must have Administator privileges on your computer.

What does this mean?

Any version of SH3 is Vista compatible, with some you'll just have to remove SF manually. That announcement means exactly what it reads: Admin-rights needed to install.

User accounts in windows come in 2 flavours. It is either a simple day-to-day user that is not allowed to do technical dangerous stuff like installing programs, but can start up programs or read-only security sensitive areas. Or the account is of the Administrator type, which can pretty much do anything it wants with the operating system. Including screw things up if you don't know what you are doing, or are infected with a worm/virus. This seperation of accounttypes was also there in Windows XP but everyone was made of the administrator type by default. Starting with Vista only the first user account (created at operating system installation) is made of the administrator type. But there is also a built-in administrator acount hidden. All account created after it are simple users with limited rights to do things. Unless an administrator account promotes a simple useraccount to also become part of the administrators. You appearantly have the 'simple user' variety. Ask someone who administrates your pc to perform the Starforce removal. Or log on with that 'very first' user account to do it yourself if you know the password.

Follow the instructions found here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=160118 and you should have no problems running sh3 on vista. I use vista x64 without any problem (knock on wood).

I think I'm going to buy the new version of SH3. This is because Kaspersky is acting up. It doesn't like what I'm doing. Rather than cause any problems I'll buy it again.

:yeah:Thanks very much everyone:yeah:
