Disappearing Ships/Convoys

I am in normal time. A ship/convoy will appear on map not too far away so I mark it with an X and move to intercept it, then poof it disappears.

or

Survivors are marked on map but when I get there, there are no survivors.

Ghosting on map somehow?

I am playing with no mods.

not sure on the survivors thing, but the "phantom" convoy thing is real, and very frustrating.

i "think" that the phantom convoy thing happens at the second spawn.
it's complex to explain, just know that it is not your installation, all of us experience what you have experienced, and there is nothing that can be done to resolve the issue.

just go and find some more ships to sink.

Did you try to dive and make a sound check? Perhaps, the convoy altered course in between time ...

The survivors as an Objective assignment can drift. The survivors if an actual airplane shot down, are only "active" for a set period of time (I forget how long), and will disappear, like their kapok got saturated and they then drowned. The convoys that disappear can be from several reasons. The most common is the routing ends, so they just "poof" disappear. A second way is spoken to by Hebe Vollmaus in his mySH3-Tool utility, and has to do with the dating of the ships and game day date, versus the ships' availability, versus the Group's date of entry etc. Weird things can happen when a Group is dated 1943, but the ship in a 1944 ship, while the game date is 1942. The game will "spawn" the group, you the player get the report, but then the game cannot spawn the actual ships in the group, so again "poof", they seem to disappear, but in actuality, they never existed, except for a short period of time in the game's database. :salute:

Could this also be the reason for CTDs?
