What affects the dynamic campaign?
 

I have seen the (approximately) 10 scenarios that I can follow during over the years 1939-1945, but is my performance only affecting which of these 10 that are available, or does something else change?

I'm curious since there are a few things that I could see changes the way the war goes:

• Number of complete missions, and the number of crosses I get.
• The tonnage I sink during the missions.
• The amount of merchants I sink.
• The amount of warships I sink.
• The amount of capital warships I sink.

I'm not sure that If I sink a capital warship, that it is gone from the game. Does anyone know that?

My fear is that the only thing that changes the war is the number of crosses I get, and that it only affects which scenarios that are available to me. Especially since I can see that there is only one ending scenario.
