1.08C equals awesome

Since this latest update, I, as a long time gamer and subsim fan, have come to very much enjoy playing the game. The visuals are great; the missions are great; the submarine capabilities, as published in the game, are great -- if not off, slightly at least, according to some published and OSINT; the music is great; the ability to tweak is great. I can finally almost say there is nothing to complain about this game. My hat is off to the folks at KFG, and to the people here who helped them get the game to where it is currently at. Way to go, all. I am happy to be a part of this gaming forum, and a paying contributor (will be paying again soon (next paycheck)). Now, if we could just figure out a way to get all mods to work together from the Start/Load screens -- without breaking anything.

You know, we spend a lot of time doing tech support, bug fixes and working to improve Cold Waters, so a post like this is extremely refreshing to come across from time to time. :yeah:

Im a big Steel Beasts player......havent played since CW came out.Yhnx KFG.:D

I tend to play only one game/simulator at a time. CW is it. Great features that can be grown upon. It has flexibility; I added the possibility of enemy subs to all surface missions just to keep me from being a cowboy.

Truly an awesome product!

What a game!!

I just purchased this game last week, and I sure am a big fan to!! Thanks Killerfish for all of your very hard work and love you placed in this wonderful creation!! Just a thought here. Would it be to much trouble to have at some ports, like when we are dropping of a Seal team,or attacking land bases, to create a shipping lane, with a sub net that opens and closes? With perhaps a sub mine field? LOL Anyway!!! LOVE this game!! Thanks ever so much!

I have a little over 50 hours into "Cold Waters" already, and I am continually spanked during the third single-mission scenario. I do not know the differences between "Escort", "Tender", and "Capital Ship".

I think I understand the differences, but is there documentation or an explanation available on the differences? I never know which ship to go after first.

I also would like to give my gratitude to the development staff for their hard work and dedication to this game. I am thoroughly enjoying this game. I have not started any campaign, yet, and would like to do better in the other single-mission scenarios.

U must go after escort first (at least its my tactic) why? because they have torpedo!! and depth charges so they are 1# priority for me after that a capital ship is 2# priority it have CIW so can counter back your missile (also easy way to shot him 3torpedo at torpedo range ) strike
#3 priority is Merchant ships they haven't any defensive capability and their speed is low so u can kiss them on surface without any problem!! (i suggest don't enemy helo is always pain in ass and nearby )

Most of these descriptions are just as they sound. A "escort" is a offensive vessel with weapons and capabilities that allow it to protect a more important or vulnerable ship, like a valuable cargo or military supply merchant, etc. They almost always have sensors or sonar and will scout ahead of the others looking for trouble, and will try to kill it before it can attack the valuable ships.

A "tender" is a supply ship that is basically like a floating gas station/supermarket. It carries everything the other combat vessels in the group need to rearm and refuel themselves so they don't have to go all the way back to their home port for supplies. They will usually sail along with a fleet of warships and supply all the ships with whatever weapons, fuel, food, etc....pretty much anything at all the fleet needs to operate for extended operations while underway at sea.

Tenders also are ships that are stationed in ports where needed and carry supplies and parts to repair/maintain other ships. For example a submarine tender will carry extra torpedoes, fuel, food, and other machine parts and supplies a group of subs would need to operate and maintain themselves while at sea.

"Capital ships" are usually the more important or most valuable ships in the group. Aircraft carriers or battleships, like the WW2 ship the USS Iowa are excellent examples of a capital ship. The man is charge, usually an admiral, will use a capital ship as his command post. Because of their importance they are always very protected by the "escort" ships, which is probably their most important job.

That pretty much sums it up. Hope that helped you. Enjoy.

You have to read your mission orders carefully before you engage any targets. Sometimes it'll say "avoid contact with escorts" or "remain undetected by ASW forces". If that's the case, then really you shouldn't be going after the escorts at all, but the exact opposite. Avoid them, move away from them quietly, let them pass you then work up on your mission targets. I understand what you're saying about taking out the escorts first. This will usually leave you with just a few unarmed merchant ships to go after with much less danger to yourself....

.......BUT

.....you still need to be careful. I watched a YouTube clip yesterday and the guy was attacking a merchant that seemed to be ARMED and ready to shoot!!! Not a helpless target. Be careful and never assume anything!!
