Editing vessel files
Hello y'all,
I've just been playing a bit of SH 4 lately, and I've found myself wanting to do some editing. Just a little, to spice things up. I've been trying to change a vessel's top speed, however I've found that changing the cfg file in the submarines folder doesn't seem to do anything. If anyone has experience modding in SH 4, could you help me out? Much appreciated, thanks |

be very careful as these parms/settings are related to other settings in other files. i strongly suggest that before you begin, you install JSGME and create a private mod folder for yourself and use that to administer your changes. good luck! :Kaleun_Salute: |
Thank you!

Oh, one more thing! Could I add a vessel to a campaign start date? For example: adding the Balao to the 1941 start date?

other modders have tried this in the past and met with difficulty of success and CTD (crash to desktop). my advice is to play the game as it was designed with regards to boats and availability. there are many other conditions of the game that can be varied with some difficulty and success, however changing boat availability is not one of them. if you decide to press on with your quest, good luck. get used to CTD with no error messages as to why SH4 crashed.:03: |

Sorry for my english..... If You search for answer for this question - You must edit flotilla.upc file in Data\UPCData\UPCCampaing Open this file in Note and search Your prefer home port and Balao. Search for line: AvailabilityInterval= 1943-08-01, NULL And change for that You want. |
For a player submarine, you also have to edit the SubName.upc, UnitPartsXSubName.upc, possibly the Equipment.upc (dependent upon the "base" game used), the UpgradePacks.upc (again dependent upon the "base" used), the Weapons.upc (same as previous 2), The CareerStart.upc, PatrolObjectives.upc, and potentially several other files. Definitely do-able, but not so simple. Anything that carries a "Date" type of limit on the submarine has to be edited to "open" the date range.
