GWX trouble

So I recently installed GWX and now whenever I try to load a game it loads for about 85% then stops and crashes. I installed it like it should, no extra mods, steam version, did everything you should to install it. it worked before when I started it in 1939 but when I try 1940 it crashes. not sure if its a problem in GWX or a compatability problem.
1939 would load but would crash regularly, 1940 would crash when loading a mission
please help.

EXRA: tested it and I found out that the world sometimes improperly loads creating a ton of lag and no ocean and an uplayable game. loading a save crashed it

Maybe you have not enough RAM on your computer. The GWX campaign is bigger than in vanilla game, so there are a lot of sea/land units to load when launching a single mission or a campaign patrol ... I could help you directly via TeamViewer, if you agree.

I have 8 gigs of ram, is that enough?
could it be that my CPU is too new for the game?(Ryzen 1500x)

Found out something else: missions load without trouble. I think its a problem with my RAM, I shall try to monitor the ram usage

monitored loading my save starting in 1939 and loading a patrol, did not go over 40%, could've been that chrome sucked up too much ram and that is why it stopped working. crash=not responding error by windows even though I do not touch my mouse or keyboard

Hi treble D
I think you are looking at a Windows compatibility problem.
I have been looking over your posts.
Your system specs are ok, no problem I can see there.
You do not state what your gpu is.

You need to run Windows 10 in compatibility mode OS7.
Run all of your applications as administrators and you should be ok.

gpu: asus rog strix gtx 1060 o6g
I kept it on default compatability of windows xp service pack 2.
I always run it as admin and the main menu and loading the save while in port is fine but it stops loading and responding regularly when entering a patrol

Hellow there THEBERBSTER! Do you know if a program set to XP mode can use the LAA applet, if Da_Dark_Derp hasn't done that yet?

Have not got an answer to that, sorry.

3 points of interest.
1. DDD still has not told us what his OS is?
2. If it is Windows 7 then no compatibilty mode should be needed.
3. If Windows 10 why is XP2 being used as the compatibility mode and not Windows 7?

If the OS is 7 or 10 then LAA should be used with his system specs.
He has 8gb of ram and 6gb of graphics.

I too experience the random crash during loading but have found that if I am willing to try a loading a few times I can usually get up and running. If I just can't get the game to load I try an earlier save. Fwiw, I think most of my crashes happen when I'm at sea...

ExFishermanBob 08-21-17 03:30 AM

I had a similar thing (running under wine, too). After ages of working correctly, the system just cowped out when loading. It would load the training mission, but then freeze as soon as I moved the mouse.

I fixed it by using JSGMEr, removing all mods, then re-installing with GWX mods first, then other mods, then the Supplememnt to V16B1 (JSGME) last.

p.s. Are you (DA_dark_derp) one of the old DA clan? if so, DA_DarkMadOldBob here.

PROBLEM FOUND: memory issues when chrome is open

THEBERBSTER 08-21-17 10:16 AM

Hi treble D
I have seen this prblem on Subsim before regarding Chrome.
Maybe changing the advanced settings from background services to programs might be worth looking at?
Peter
