Help installing uboat addon with steam

hi guys
just bought SHIV on Steam after many years away however I still have the itch for the pacific. I tried to install the uboat addon but its telling me that I don't have a previous installation of SHIV!! Is this because I've installed SHIV in my steam games folder?

The Ubisoft U-Boat Missions Add-On is not compatible with the Steam Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific version of the game. You do have to use the Steam version of that...
