DW Multiplayer

Hello all,

Does anyone know if DW multiplayer still works?

If so, how do I get it in working order?

Thanks

Still works perfectly fine

Most people are using the DWX RA 1.50 mod now though you can download it free here: http://ra-dwx.narod.ru/

P7P8 runs a group on Discord as does FPSHAZLEY they do MP games regularly.

Yeah, we play every Saturday. Today we will meet as always at 20:00 UTC+2 (within 8 hours from now).

Requirements:
- RA 1.50 + patch 3 (pinned on my discord channel)
- connection by directplay 8 (native for DW)

Recommended:
1. Window mode (better stability)
- by Dwnx if you use windows 8/10
- needs changing color depth to 16 bit in windows 7 or older
2. Disable all virtual adapters (prevents connection problems)

So both my friend and I installed the patch. I think I also saw something about not using the d3d8.dll (?). My friend cannot host a game due to an unnamed error and cannot join mine via direct ip. How do I use directplay 8? I'm relatively new to modifying game files like this so I'll need it explained like I know nothing.

Thanks for the help!

It's been a decade or longer ago since I played DW MP. But iirc it needs the game hoster to also port forward certain ports in their router. Or other players cannot join. (they will simply be ignored by the router) I don't know which ports those are (probably in the manual somewhere) And I certainly cannot tell how your particular router needs to be configured. Each has their own different way of presenting the configuration options for that.
