Milk in tea. Is there anything that could probably top this :D

Skybird 01-24-24 06:24 PM

Heee...! I was an occasional drinker of Ostfriesentee and Rooibostea...! (= both means cream and sugar). The first is an UNESCO cultural world heritage now, you infidel heathen! First the Wölkchen, and then the Kluntjes!

Well. No more. Too many carbs. :D

What kind of tea, and where did it come from that was dumped in the Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party?

During the Boston Tea Party, which took place on December 16, 1773, the Sons of Liberty, a group of American patriots, boarded three ships carrying East India Company cargo and dumped 342 chests of **black tea** into the Boston Harbor as a form of protest². The tea was imported from China and was a blend of different types of tea¹. The specific types of tea that were thrown overboard were **Bohea**, **Congou**, and **Souchong**⁴. Bohea was a popular black tea that was a blend of oolong and black teas from the Wuyi Mountains and surrounding areas¹. Congou was used to denote a higher quality Bohea¹. Souchong was a sub-type of Bohea since it also comes from the Wuyi Mountains. It is a black tea that was smoked, though likely not as much as modern versions of Lapsang Souchong¹.

Brandy is the great cause of destruction for the aborigines of America.

You're right, no glutamate in tea. Where there is no flavour anyway, a flavour enhancer then also is of no use. :smug:

Woodsman's Tea (New England style):

Add loose tea leaves (no tea bags here) to the basket of an old school percolator style coffee pot. The tea is your call, I prefer black tea but any type is fine as long as it isn't "flavored". :timeout:

Fill the pot with cold water then heat to boiling. The tea in the basket should hold up for at least one month as long as you brew one pot or more per day.

Here's where it turns into New England style-

Do NOT empty the basket. Instead, add a fresh layer of tea leaves to the basket every 4-7 days (or when the tea starts to taste weak). :yeah: The tea takes on an almost-smoky or woody flavor after one or two weeks. :yep:

I have lived in New England all my life and this is the first that I have heard of this. Sounds like it would work though.

What is needed is the opinion of a good, old curmudgeon (no, not one of those on these forums) with a firm idea of a cuppa...
