Navy Day St Petersburg
Afternoon all
So something interesting came past my desk this morning regarding the Navy day parade in St Petersburg on July 25th Normally we do see one nuclear boat usually a SSN or SSGN heading through the Baltic from the Northern fleet, back in 2019 we saw TK208 Dmitri Donskoi a typhoon class SSBN make the trip which was unusual to say the least. However this year we are expecting the following units to make the trip K549 Knyazx Vladimir a Borei class SSBN K157 Vepr Akula class SSN K266 Orel Oscar II SSGN (already transited through Danish waters) Seems President Putin is making a statement this year for sure |
He most certainly appears to be doing just that.

SSBN Borei and SSGN Oscar in the baltic are a bit close for comfort :hmmm:

K266 Orel transited through Danish waters surfaced the last few days the picture i looked at of her suggests she doesn't have her main battery on board as she is riding high. Would also be the same for the borei there is limited water depth in St Petersburg channel and navigationally its quite hazardous even one of our type 22's ran aground back in the day when leaving. |
For me it sounds like a kind of show off by the Russians.

Indeed the admirals would have known fully about it
This morning the Vepr sailed under the Oersund bridge Denmark |
The Knyaz Vladimir the borei class has now transited through Danish waters she was escorted by a Danish OPV
|
I hope the danish minister does not set the minefield to "on", with all those ground mines like the Mk 60 captor reacting to certain noise profiles :03:
