where can i find them ?

I was ready to purchase revell's large type VII a while back, the best place I could find up here was militaryhobbies (they have both an american and canadian site) prices seem reasonable.

Currently there are two 1/72nd scale Type VII models available from Revell.

One depicts an early VIIC with the small conning tower, the other is meant to be a VII/C41 with the full two level wintergarten. Both kits are approx 4 feet or so long and retail (in the UK) at £50.

If your budget and space requirements don't stretch that far, Revell released a Type VIID minelayer in 1/144 scale (approx half the size of the two big ones).

Revell also did two 1/125 kits of U-99 and U-47, the latter being a cutaway. To be honest, avoid those two like the plague. They're not very good!:down:

The late model, kinda fell through though when I saw Polar Lights had released a 1/350 scale Refit USS Enterprise. (I'm a Trek fan at heart) Right now I'm about half way through the Tamiya Tripitz 1/350 kit. After that I'll start the Enterprise and then most likely buy the 1/72 type VII C/41.

It has been decades since I built models, but I'm feeling that urge again. Take a look at the beautiful job done on this Type VIIc model: http://www.steelnavy.com/RevellTypeVIIcRM.htm. There are more models to be found in the root directory of this site.

Does anyone know where I can find miniature ship and u-boats? Die cast would be ideal, but I suppose plastic would suffice.

I personally own the kit, but I shelved it a few months ago to finish an Sherman tank and start work on a P-61. It's a HUGE boat, though!

Hasegawa makes some, including a kit that can be completed as either a VIIC or a IXC - don't know how that would work out.:-? They are part of the waterline series (which means they can be placed on a flat surface - because of a lack of a keel) and actually include a sinking freighter, apparently.:huh: I have a Hasegawa Akagi, which I think is alright quality-wise (although I am an amature modeler) and also a Kaga kit, which I haven't built yet - I don't know what their U-Boat kits are like.

I've built this kit. It includes two U-boats (a VIIC and a IXC). The scale is 1/700 so they're quite small. But the detail is good and they make up for a nice little display.

Really?:huh: The eBay seller who included that descriotion must have been confused. I am now much more interested in getting one of those.:D

Doesn't it come with a sinking freighter as well? Do you have a picture, perhaps?:hmm:
