Top 5 Guilty Pleasure War Movies

Was wondering if there are any war movies, that a lot of people dislike and been hated by critics but you like?

Me:
5:Fortress- the cgi does look like Xbox 360 graphics but a decent little film
4:Windtalkers-fun action movie, thats all it was meant to be
3:U-571-silly but great action and soundtrack
2:Flyboys-entertaining despite being at bit slow at times
1:Pearl Harbor-love story sucks but I love the Doolittle Raid scene

That's my list feel free to post your own.

I liked Fortress....and I love Pearl Harbor.

U-571 is eh...

Don't care to see Windtalkers. I hate Nicholas Cage with a passion.

I like Red Tails. That kind of counts as a guilty-pleasure War Movie.

Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed was good too...

Why are those guilty pleasures? They're both good movies.

Flyboys and Windtalkers both make my list of films that I really shouldn't like but secretly pop in the DVD player when I think no one is around. There are a few non-war movies that fall on list as well. The list, howerver, does not include such films as The Final Sacrifice and Radar Secret Service, which are so terrible as to be amazing. There most certainly is a line where kitch becomes camp.

Indeed those are great movies, although they are great movies that tended to be rated low by critics (which was kinda the requirement for the list).

I should add anything that was on Mystery Science Theater 3000 to my list.

You'll enjoy this video of him being stalked by bees then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34JqcAWK6AM

Showing my age.

"Taras Bulba" with Yul Brynner.
"Kings of the Sun" with Yul Brynner.
"Viva Maria" with Bridget Bardot and George Hamilton.
"The Fall of the Roman Empire"
"The Charge of the Light Brigade" 1960's version.

All great films but for one reason or another didn't get the punters in.

A bit off topic now, but 2 more great films which don't get much of a mention, probably cause they're silent movies :-

"The General" with Buster Keaton,
and
"Intolerance" (at least the siege of Babylon bits, amazing stuff.)

In no particular order:

The Battle of Britain - 'nuff said.
The Big Red One - saw this so many times on HBO it wasn't even funny.
Kelley's Heroes - stop it with those negative waves, man.
Apocalypse Now - "NEVER GET OUT OF THE BOAT!"
The Beast - back when the mujahadeen (sp?) were bros.

Carl, why would you feel guilty about watching any of those?

Dammit_Carl! 03-18-13 01:21 PM

The guilt comes with the number of times I've seen them. You would think I could've found some others to latch onto by now. :)

Not quite sure I understand this thread. Guilty pleasure war movies?

What do you mean by that? If you like a movie, watch it
