Wow, it's been a long time... checking my save files backup, it was around 2010 when I last played my career and still remember it to this day. I was attacking a convoy in very clear calm conditions, sunk a few merchants and a Black Swan-class Sloop had me dead to rights. I made the mistake of trying to evade too slowly while too shallow, and one of the depth charge launchers dropped one right in front of the conning tower above the sonar/radio room - it was lights out and game over on my 20th patrol.
I guess I drifted off to other games in the past few years but something just felt missing recently and I've been longing to go on patrol again. Originally I wanted to survive till the end of the war while sinking as much tonnage as I could. The problem with my previous install was I had modded the stock game with a ton of small mods which were incompatible with the super mods, so I was using stock campaign files which was really a drag. So I just recently re-installed SH3, added GWX 3.0 Gold as a base to have improved campaign files as well as a lot of the previous modifications I was originally using. Added in a few other mods I had on backups then updated some old ones to new versions. So yeah after a long hiatus from playing the game I'm back and ready to start up a new career and hopefully not make the same mistake that cost me my previous boat... after a few tests and seeing some of destroyers I added to the game have up to 11 Depth Charge Racks! I better shake off the rust and quick, as this time around it's looking like my career might be very interesting... :03: WolfyBrandon |
