I must have said something to anger BdU or another high-ranking military or political officer: U-48, the pride of the 7. Unterseebootsflottille, has been assigned to AN84, the eastern approach to the English Channel. Yeah, that's going to work out just fine in early July 1940.
Thankfully, I've now got the 2cm FK C/30 Flakzwiling, so maybe I can bloody Coastal Command's nose if I get jumped in the shallow water around here. :damn: |

1943-10-19
U-292 (VIIC/41) 1st Flotilla, Brest on the way to the assigned grid FC76 a large convoy was radioed and U-292 went flank to intercept. in the afternoon 30merchants and 7DDs could be made out. as there were 9columns it was decided to infiltrate between the second and third column after it was confirmed that they sailed on a steady course of 13° at a speed of 6kn. after reaching the attack-location in grid DS9649 (where the convoy had to arrive at 9p.m. so the darkness was on our side) U-292 went to 20m silently. we awaited the first row to run over us and ascended to PD. sea was heayv with 15m/s winds so we tried to force our luck to spend just one aal per vessel and to go for the bow. out of 5aale just one missed, the AOB must have been calculated wrong. but the other four hit! http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4748/frsink.jpg 3of4 went down soon, just one ore-freighter struggled for life (without success) http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/8885/oresink.jpg it was the most successful convoy-attack (~ 25k tons) that late in war for the Kaleu: http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5993/navmap43.jpg as soon as the first aal hit, we flanked to 200m and evaded without being detected! a very rare situation in the meanwhile ..... |
Midway through the third patrol of U-19 (Type IIA)
Two ships sunk. Granville Freighter Tramp Steamer Two torpedoes remaining. Grid AN44. When this patrol is over I should be renowned enough to trade up to a IID :DL |
BE MORE AGGRESSIVE!! http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif
