U53 - Type VIIb - pre war shakedown patrol
August 1, 1939
Departed from Wilhelmshaven for a shakedown patrol. Patrol area BF17. Weather clear and sea conditions quite good. August 5, 1939 U53 moved through the Channel and got to patrol area BF17. Training target interception and attak positioning as well as crash dive drilling. August 6, 1939 Patrol complete, no contacts. Moving back to Wilhelmshaven. August 9, 1939 Back to home. Cruised through the Channel once again. Clear weather all the way through. Working the crew hard to get them ready for what's to come in the days ahead. But will anything be enough for what await us? Will I be ready? Time will tell. |
