SSNX Seattle Class

This started out as a personal project just for myself (fictional) however, I thought I'd release it to the community for anyone else that wanted to play around with it. Based upon the Seawolf performance data, the SSNX Seattle class boat is somewhat of a swift, silent and deadly beast. Still, I'd avoid overconfidence. It is highly recommended that you conduct a trial of the sub in one or all of the training missions to get a handle on its systems and performance capabilities prior to conducting combat operations. DISCLAIMER - This mod does not overwrite any existing Cold Waters game files. It only adds to them.

To install - Simply drag the override folder into the StreamingAssets game folder (ColdWaters/ColdWaters_Data/StreamingAssets). When completed, you should have two folders in the StreamingAssets directory, the default folder and the newly added override folder.

Features:

• Custom performance data.
• Includes Irodgy's updated sensor package.
• Campaign, Scenario and Training mission compatible.

Stats

The mod looks interesting but is there any way you can tell us the stats of the sub? like compared to the base boats.

i've seen your work in fsx, when are you gonna give these subs some love? :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Great Mod! Did the Seattle Class have a VLS? If so, are there any plans to add it to this mod?

Great work and thanks!

Given that the assets and MDL's are closed, never. Unless they allow access down the road, then I'll get to texturing and modeling.

I'll wait until KFG officially implements their VLS system before attempting to mod it in.

Is this a real sub?

Never heard of it.

CaptainX3 06-21-17 03:54 PM

Hello,

I've received a request to add this sub to the Playable Russian Subs mod (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=5234).

I would be happy to add this into the mod with appropriate credits, but I will not do so without the author's explicit permission.

Do you have any plan to add a sonar signature for the Seattle?

SSNX Seattle

I know that their are more experienced submariners here, but to my knowledge, there is not a new class of subs that the Seattle might be one of them.

Just looking at the name "Seattle", that is a city name, just like the LA Class, but the newer Virginia class will be given State names. Unless, of course, a new submarine program is being initiated for the 2030s and beyond.

Looking at the past, rather than produce new submarines of a different design on a regular basis, upgrades are added to currently building submarines and those same upgrades are retrofitted into submarines that are currently in the fleet as they conduct overhaul maintenance, Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) (submarine tender or base)and Selected Restricted Availability (SRA) (base).

To make some of this easier, submarines are becoming modular in that that whole systems can be removed quickly and replaced quickly with an updated capability.

I'm not sure of the cost benefits, but it can be a faster naval base visit for maintenance. I say that since there are a bunch of naval bases, but fewer naval bases that are configured for maintenance or specific types of maintenance.

A lot of moving pieces to keep the highest percentages of boats actively on patrol or forward-deployed. I understand that their are 1-2 sub tenders working the Pacific Theatre of Operations (PTO). I suspect they would be good targets for enemy strikes.

I also note that the newest submarines are named for States, just as the SSBMs are so named. I hear a new SSBM class is in the works for IOC in the later 2020s. Maybe they will be named for cities with the highest rate of ...armed cat burglars. .

Update 1.2

Corrected some issues given the new CW file structure. Also added the TLAM-N Nuclear Land Attack Missile. This seems mostly cosmetic however, as the engine driving Cold Waters doesn't model splash damage, so altering the warheads yield from its default of 845 to 10000 doesn't seem to do much. I keep looking into it though.

DetCord 07-23-17 10:26 PM

Project discontinued. No further updates or 3D modeling. Do not update or include in any third-party mod.
