Yes, it does. I have some visual glitches with the 3D renderer, but it works OK in general.

S3ditor is one of the few utilities that we use for SH4 that actually has an installation. which version did you download? i am using v0.9.9 under Win10 and never had a problem.

have you tried to de-install, reboot, re-install?
i know it's a trite request but sometimes an installation can be off by just a bit (or is it a byte?).

[popeye laugh] gek gek gek [/end popeye laugh] :haha: That's awful, mister!!! :har:

AirShark, when you install DirectX v9.0c, and the S3D installer, be sure and right-click their executable or msi file, and select "Run as administrator" on the install also. After the install, select the S3D.exe ("Program Files (x86) \skwas \Silent 3ditor" folder), and experiment with the "Properties" settings by right-clicking S3D.exe, and choosing Properties from the context menu. On the Compatibility tab, you might try the Compatibility settings (try Win7 or WinXP), and / or the "Disable fullscreen optimizations", and / or "Run this as an administrator", and / or use the "Change high DPI settings" button, and set the "High DPI scaling override" to "Application". You would have to experiment with those. One of my computers, I have them all set. On another, just the Admin, and on this laptop, none are changed... go figure that one out... reminds me of Silent Hunter 4... - Oh! You might have to change your UAC settings, if you have those cranked all of the way up. Notch that back one step at a time and test again.

Also, if it still won't open, look in the Task Manager and see if it isn't by chance in the Processes section running. If it is, right-click and End the Process. Try running it again...

i typed my answer and then re-read it and could not resist typing the pun.
it was a moral imperative.

during the installation i got a hidden window beneath saying that one or two DX9 components that S3D requires are not installed. though i already downloaded and installed the directx web installer

From the readme in S3D:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Why do I need to install DirectX 9.0c again? I already have it.
A: S3D requires DirectX 9.0c with Managed Extensions installed. Chances are you have got a subset of DirectX 9.0c installed, and not the entire package.

Other than that, I can't help you because my technical skills are close to 0.

Is it possible to run 2 instances of the program side by side to compare files. If so, how would I do it? Say for example I would like to compare 2 particle.dat files from an original mod and an updated version of the mod and see the difference between the 2.

Double clicking on each file doesn't do anything, only the first one clicked is the active file.

Thanks.

yeah, no.

click and drag the second file into the open S3ditor window.
same for a third file....a fourth file, etc.
