Ubi Webpage gone?

Any able to get to ubisoft's page. Thought I'd check out the addon but am getting:

"We can't find www.ubi.com"

Someone torpedo their website?

I cannot get it either

Raptor1 03-01-08 05:31 PM

Me neither

I was getting a "System Error" page earlier, with a URL that implied some kind of security ID had not been accepted.

I tried to download the 1.4 patch from SH III about 6 hours ago (I think)
at that time they had a server error (or something like that)

OMG ;)

I pinged their IP address (found via NetCraft) and their system is still there, just not resolving via a reverse DNS check (put Ubi's IP into 12dt's search slot).

DNS takes the ubi.com and converts it a numerical string with periods. Here's the Wikipedia article on how it works.

Maybe they took the DNS down to perform meintenance, which is why the server is still on...

DNS is not a Ubi computer system, but part of the "backbone" of how the 'net works. If DNS were down, no website anywhere would be accessible -- including this one.

It's possible Ubi is in the process of changing IP addy's. Sometimes that takes several hours before the DNS servers match up the numbers.

I meant, they temporarily disabled their URL to perform maintenance, so the website won't be accessible...

It's also possible that they are changing the IP of their server

Since Ubi is running pretty much all the subs around here, a large force of battleships must've slipped through and bombed the hell out of the website

I suspect an EA sneak attack!

Hmmm... that would cause the outage too. (Forgot 'bout that :damn: )

DasLeakin 03-01-08 08:48 PM

Probably a CTD...LOL:rotfl:

Here's the oddball URL (read it):

http://ubbx.ubi.com/OCServer_US.aspx...ver%3A+%27Y%27

Their website is back on, BTW
