Time Compression keeps dropping - Wolves of Steel mod

My Time compression maxes out at 128 and then drops to 1. If I run at 64x, it will stay there, but as soon as I bump up to 128, it drops back to 1. Sometimes I can finally crank up the TC, but normally not.

Any ideas why not? It's boring to crawl along trying to get home or out to the theater.

This happens to me near land It's an indicator of something close, like the computer telling me to "look around dumby!" :) Once you clear the land it should speed back up.

Well, I am running near Kiel. Maybe the water is not deep enough?

Expand the UI at the TC controls, there is another TC thing below. I dunno what it's for, but increasing let me TC faster.

The TC settings for TWOS can be seen on the threads post #1.

If you are not happy with these settings then just customise to suit your game play.

Some of the 1 settings I have changed to 4 except aircraft.

I do not use travel mode as it is intended but can be useful at times to have a second setting where only 1 is showing and can be switched on and off as required.

TC1 in a friendly area is like watching paint dry.

My TC is maxed out at 256,512 as I use real navigation.

I did a re-install. As I recall there were some TC settings in the options editor but I don't remember.

Anyway right now my max TC is 1024.

I miss SH3 and being able to jack it up to 4000+. I'm only really interested in the boat dropping out of TC when the watch has spotted bad guys.

Hi Steve

TC1024 is the games default setting as can be seen in TWOS post #1

You can personalize your TC settings to suit your game play.

My tutorial post #116 explains how to make changes.

I am afraid to raise it any higher - I usually get crashes at TC. Though vdr said that might be because of the bug when you approach within 200km of your base you need to re-start the game.

Hi Steve

Making a change to the maximun TC1024 by putting a , and 2056 after it so you have maximum=1024,2056 can be used up to 2056 by pressing the travel mode icon.

This would allow you to use settings up to 2056.

In open sea traveling long distances this may not be a problem.

Closer to ports I would not use more than TC64 or 32 because of all the resources kicking in.

Making a manual save with no AI present is not a bad thing to do anyway.

Automatic in game saves can sometime corrupt.

I always make manual save while standing on the bridge when ending my game play.

Hello THEBERBSTER, thanks a lot for all the helpful stuff you have posted!

I just started SH5 TWOS 3 days ago, first time playing SH since around 2007-2008. I'm having the same problem with TC as the thread starter. I had a look in the pinned posts but cannot find the post you are referring to.

Please can you link me? I would like to change TC so I can use it when approaching harbors etc.

Hi Shahed
The TC Settings can be found here C:\documents\SH5\data\cfg\main
You can see here the default settings for TWoS.
The recommended maximum for TWoS is 512

****Hint Hint***

I have found:
If the TC drops to 1 and you are not near land, It usually is a sign that a Convoy is close by :)

If you don't want TC to drop near land, activate Travel Mode in the upper icon group on the NavMap. If ships are nearby TC will drop to 1, but you can increase maximum to TC64 and not more. This is for stability reasons.

yep, shallow water ships nearby, land nearby, it all drops your TC so you dont end up dry in the middle of an island or sail right into a ships hull and sink yourself

AnotherOne 11-27-21 12:38 AM

That's really annoying when you're navigating at the baltic sea, which is full of friendly contacts. It makes me want to sink friendly ships just because they are stalling the time compression.

I got it resolved by changing the limit from 128x to 1024x in OptionsFileEditorViewer
