Is SH4 v.1.5 GFO Submarine School: Photo Recon Doable?

Is SH4 v.1.5 GFO Submarine School: Photo Recon Doable?

Although, I believe BB or Webster, wrote a while ago that Photo Recon in SH4 stock had errors and that since GFO captains can do this mission, I have a different experience.

It's the 12th of June in 1943 at Batangas Bay where a Japanies fleet is.

Whatever I do, through the North West or through the North East, shooting down Sampas or not, crash dive in time or not, every time and again I am surrounded by 3 enemy warships, sailing in circles, which take me to heaven.

If either BB or Webster writes that the bug has been removed since GFO, is there anyone here who can give me a tip so I can finally start taking those pictures?

haven't played GFO in a while...let me take a look at that mission and i'll give you some feedback.
are you referring this mission, in the Quick Missions Category? which boat did you select for the mission?

ok, assuming it is the mission to which you were referring, yes, it is a tough mission but doable. definitely a mission for an advanced "student" or in your case a PCO. :03:

i suspect that the key to success is avoiding the three or four escorts patrolling the mouth of the bay.
find the thermocline and get just below that...but not too deep because the bay gets shallow as you near the geographic mission marker. travel slowly, 2 or 3 knots at best and silently also.

stay under the therm until you close on the target area and then come shallow to take your photos.

dive under the therm on the return trip. try and get out of visual range of the escorts so that you can come to radar/radio depth because you need to receive a message. after that message, find the small convoy of tankers and sink one of them.

good luck, herr kaleun!

Thank you for trying!

I made a mistake: It's not a mission from the Submarine school but a Quick Mission!
I didn't know I could choose a boat, I had the SALMON...

Thanks on forehand!

Thanks KaleunMarco!

A great relief to me that it is possible after all! I'm excited!

Count on having to find the right way takes a few times, so it will take me a few days...

But, I'll keep you posted!
