Bstanko6’s Manual Targeting School

Every video I have that I made for SH3. They work for SH5 too!

I had a few requests to place all videos in one spot so here you are.

These videos were made with intentions of teaching to a simpler audience. They are my methods. I understand there are other ways to calculate these methods, but these are mine.

Let me know how you like them.

Perfect timing, as i was needing something to watch on during my sleep study tomorrow evening.

Thanks! :yeah:

Hopefully they help you out!

Great videos, thank you very much Bstanko6!
Thanks to you I finally took some time to learn how to use the RAOBF disk and I'm amazed how good tool that is!

I've always struggled with AoB and while map plot is a sure way to get it, it takes time. Since I've experimented with using tick marks and recognition manual to calculate the AoB on fast situations, but using a calculator just kills it for me. Now I don't have to!

@Mussalo...
Glad you like the videos. The RAOBF wheel is one of the coolest, simplest, and quickest tools to use. And it existed!!! I use it 100% of the time, with the exception of convoys where I have time to plot and plan. Thanks for the comments.

In many cases, the ship ID book, which is mandatory for using raobf, is no longer able to be used; incorrect ships, etc. What is the raobf scenario then; can it still be used ? Or does installing magui's mod update/correct the ship ID book too ?

I have no idea what you mean. The RAOBF works independent from any Rec Book. Just input the mast height or ship length. I would not understand why you would have an issue. If the rec book you are using is wrong then that is an entirely different issue that can’t be fixed here.

One gets the mast height and ship length from the book to have the raobf work if I understood the video correctly.
So if the book info. is wrong, so would be the resulting raobf inputs. I've read threads where some SH3 mods change the book info., hence the question about does magus's mod too.

bstanko6 03-04-19 02:07 PM

Correct. If the book is wrong the RAOBF will not help you.

Get a better book!

Is the book in magui f the stock one ? Looks like a fun mod to try.

It should be. It is only a GUI mod not a ship mod. It should not change your rec book. If you use a ship mod that adds or changes ships, it should come with a rec for that mod.

Sounds good, thanks.

For those who haven't tried them, as far as I'm concerned these tutorial videos are some of the best available.
Simple, thorough and well presented. They really are worth a look.

Thank you I appreciate it.
