Adjusting Sounds in OM
Using OM 705-715, patch, OMGEU, patch--
I would like to increase volume of torpedo tubes opening/closing and torpedo launch. On my system I can barely hear the launch and the tubes opening not at all. Having played TMO like forever I am very fond of hearing those sounds clearly. I tried increasing the volume of those sounds by 25% using Sound Recorder on the Torpedo Tube Opening and Torpedo Tubes wave files located in SH4/Data/Sounds, but it made no effect I could hear. I did save the changes btw. Can anyone tell me the correct way to adjust those sounds? Thanks |
You could try copying the TMO files over to OM. Sound files are easily swapped in and out to ones liking.

Ah Wilcke, what a resource you always are. Thx. I'll try that.

Hmmm......I got the torpedo launch sound now, but still nada on the torpedo doors. I'm stumped. :damn:

In my TMO install under data/sound - I found "Torpedo tube opening" (doors opening) and "Torpedo_Tubes" (launch)... is that what you need, sir?

Akula, thanks, but no. Those two files exist in Data/Sounds and work just fine when clicked on. However, the torpedo tube doors do not sound within the game. As Wilcke suggested, I even imported that file from TMO and still no joy, even though the sounds work fine in TMO.
I think there must be a command line buried somewhere that isn't asking for the torpedo tube wave file. In any case, Lurker said he'd look into it when he has a chance. |
Ok... but I imported those sounds into the game myself (liked them better than stock myself after hearing them) - I think the torpedo launch wav went off as I loaded a saved game... but it was a slow night for targets so I never had a chance to hear the doors. I will be paying attention if I get a chance to play tonight.
edit: yer right, banjo... no tube door sound. Never knew what I was missing... and it was so obvious. LOL |
