Monday, 1 July 1940 - Commissioning of U 112 in Bremen.

Until Thursday, 18 July 1940 - Work-up's and Trials with the U.A.K. (Kpt.z.S.R. BRÄUTIGAM), the 2nd Training Division, Gotenhafen (Freg.Kpt. HARTMANN) and the 5th Training Flotilla, Stralsund (Kvt.Kpt. MOEHLE).

Torpedo-Shooting Training was done with the new firing fuse Pi-G7H, which were introduced in June 1940, due to the "torpedo crisis" in April/May 1940.

The Pi-G7H is basically, a Pi-1, which has been adapted according to the torpedoes captured from the English submarine HMS Seal (37 M) but without the magnetic fuse (MZ). So, only the contact fuse (AZ) can be used.

The differentiation between the Ato and Eto pistol, is the same as with the Pi-1:
Kopf/K-a = T-1/G7a/Ato; Kopf/K-b = T-2/G7e/Eto

Hi all.

After a two year silent run I'm back at sea with Hubert Henke on his 4th patrol. Playing LSH III 2015.

Ill health has given me some time on my hands for a little while, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend it.

I've lost my copy of the U-Boat Commander's Handbook, but I found an online version for the moment. I also bought U-Boat Tactics In World War II. And any day I'm expecting Iron Coffins, which I'll read in a recovery period.

Good luck. Gavin.

Fantastic to see my post doing so well after all this time.
I'll be sure to add to this over the coming days after quite a lengthy stay on land. I really need to get away from this virus mania and the churning sea is the only place to find my solace...

Paul.

A few hours out of Wilhelmshaven on 9.3.40 I've been ordered to return to base.

Apparently I've to undertake a 'special task' from 2.4.40 :o:o

I've not experienced this before, I'm a little anxious :hmmm::arrgh!:

The 2nd of April has almost came and went and I'm a bit unclear on my orders......

My patrol grid was AN46 and I was there very early so I took out some merchants, and I left myself the 4 bow tubes loaded for my 'special task'.

On 2.4.40 I got a message saying when Wesrubung starts I've to 'make full use of my weapons' in Norwegian waters and to be in my starting position.

Ok........what's my starting position? AN46 isn't very near Norway.

Should I stay in my patrol grid, or mover closer to Norway? I'm confused :k_confused:
