SH5 Install Questions

I've played through SH3 years ago but want to get into SH5 or Wolfpack. My old computer has gone kaput and my new one has Windows 10 PRO so I just wanted to make sure either one will still function on this new one if I install SH5 through Steam without going through hours of figuring out why it won't work? Wolfpack looks great but I have limited time to play so co-op isn't always good for me.

Any help or input with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to SUBSIM

Someone will be by to answer your question. I have not played SH5 for a few years and my copy is on disc.

well, don't install it in the default Program(x86) folder.

keep in mind that you must have an active internet connection to launch and play SH5. it performs an update and license check at every launch. (UbiConnect)

if you've recently upgraded your system and your video drivers are up-to-date, you can ignore the vid card driver updates error Ubi generates when the installation completes.

you may have to manually install the UbiConnect driver, if the installation doesn't do it automatically. if you need to do that, go to the UBI site and search for the Ubiconnect driver. if you still can't find it, let me know and i can send you what i have and hope that it is still a valid link.

one more thing, keep in mind that SH5 uses a totally different player interface in the game. you have to point and click to get anywhere in the sub rather than using function keys to move to various stations. the keyboard layout is also totally different from SH3/SH4. i mean totally different.

good luck.

Thank you for the info...great help! If I install it from Steam will it ask me about a Ubisoft Connect driver or do I do that outside Steam?

Also is it just better to go back to SH3 with a mod update that makes it look better than it did 15 years ago? And will that work with Win10?

Thanks again

I helped a friend install SH5 via Steam to a win 10-64bit desktop last year. We installed to the secondary SSD on his desktop and did not install SH5 into the default Program(86) folder. Then we installed Wolves of Steel v2.2. He has enjoyed
ever since.
