First time since 90 years Germany plays for ice hockey world title

^ this, not more, not less. They wrestled down team USA and now meet Canada in the final.

Far more curious today however was the final day in the German Bundesliga, a day that had its screenplay written by a dramatist from Hollywood usually writing screenplays for the Die Hard series. It was a distance duel between the leading team BVB Borrussia Dortmund, and 2 points behind them Bayern München. The drama included all elements a football drama could include, including last minute goals, penalties, big chances missed, the decision being in balance, then looking decided, than being in balance again. In the end, Dortmund played only a draw and München got a win, so they won the title (11th in a row) by the closest of leads by points: none :) (71 both), München had scored more goals over the season). It was the by far most dramatic and exciting seasons final I can remember. And curious. München had a pest-and-plague season behind it, and in the minutes the games were whisteled off München's president Kahn and sport director Salihamidzic got fired. The latter learned it two minutes after the game was over and the trophy was secured and he was standing at the kickoff point and some other man told him. Kahn did not even appear in the arena, later twittered that he was told to stay away. Wowh. Now you know why in Germany we call them the 1. FC Hollywood. Their new film'S title: "Titan has fallen" (during his active career as record national and Bavarian goalie Kahn was called the Titan).

Anyway, today it was football drama at its very best. Hollywood couldnt do it better. And I am not even especially a fan of the clubs involved, or football in general.

Haha just seen in our sport news

HSV-Hamburger Sports Verein won 1-0 against another team in their second division and what's more their opponent was behind 1-2 in an another game-Which mean that HSV should be playing in Bundesliga next year...so the spectators thought, 'cause the other team wanted it otherwise..within some minute they went from 1-2 to 3-2 and toke HSV place.

Taking about change of mood-Going from pure happiness to pure despair.

It's not over yet..HSV has to play a two game against another team.

(Could not remember the name of all these football teams, only the HSV)

Still, his was not as easy as thought, for Canada.

2:2 at the beginning of third. 2:5 at the end of third.

But I missed to watch it. :wah: I simply forgot.

Congratulations to Germany for the silver medal. Not bad.:salute:

This actually gets little attention here in Canada. The real hockey championship is being played out in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

I have once seen an Ice hockey match between two national teams where the referee came from the same country as one of the team in this meeting.

Edit
It even happened in a tournament
End edit

Yes I know. But in the rest of the world and her ein Germany its a big thing, for Germany especially because the Germans have dug themslevs out of world hockey'S basement just in recent years, and were quite bad before since I think the 80s or so. To beat the US and taking the lead twice against mighty Canada before loosing just in the final third is a big thing for German hockey. Last time they were as good as in the recent years was when I still was at school.

Unless we are talking about the Olympics. Hockey played in the Olympics gets a lot of attention. Germany played well there, too. The women's Hockey teams get attention as well. I well remember the American women Olympic Hockey team with Amanda Kessel, Hilary Knight and company winning the Gold Medal against the team from Canada. It was so awesome. :yep:

It goes with out saying that the teams from Canada are so hard to beat. :yep:

Yeah it has in the past, at least when the US is a medal contender but I don't remember seeing a single match during the previous winter games.

The Match where a referee came from same country as team A

Was in Canada Cup in the middle of the 80'ies.

He came from Canada and he did his job as a professionel between Canada and Sweden.
Reason the American referee who should judge in this game, got fired after a terrible judging in another Canada Cup game.
