In 1986, a Soviet plane was on its way to a stopover in Samara in present-day Russia, when the captain bet with his co-pilot that he could land the plane only with the help of the instruments.
They therefore pulled the blinds for the windows, but on landing he overheard warnings about the position of the plane, after which it smoked out of the runway and ended up upside down. 70 of the 94 people on board were killed on landing.
