External camera sh3
 
Hi everyone been playing sh3 for few years now. Couple of weeks ago downloaded gwx gold. Now when I use ext camera to check nationality of ship the camera has mind of own and is uncontrollable. This continues if I exit and try to use the scope or binos. Anyone come across this or can help. Installed on laptop via original dvd disk. Thanks

OP fixed his, but in case anyone else has this issue:

In your TychoSh3Patch.map file (open using notepad), you'll see this section:

#
@@@ Expand Nav and Attack maps render limit, from 1024x1024 to 2048x2048.
@@
@@@000A8E75: 00 00
@@@000A8E76: 04 08
@@@000A8E77: 00 00
@@@000A8E78: 00 00

If you're having a double screen glitching, removing the three @@@ in front of the 000s (NOT the @@@ in front of Expand Nav) *should* fix it. Make sure they're removed all the way down to:

:000739E4: 04 00," which is right above the "@@@Scopes and reticles" section.

It fixed it for me, at least.

I've seen this issue a lot on these forums and rarely have I seen someone post the solution that worked for me, so here it is.

Im having an annoying issue. the repeater for the stop watch doesnt work and i have to use my phone or i gotta click from persicope to map really quick

Do you mean it doesn't work when you try to start it or it doesn't work at all ? If the former, that is the way it is supposed to be unless a mod is applied.

it doesnt work outside of the periscope. Im using GWX 3.0 gold which i believe is supposed to repeat it so you can use it outside of that view. i think i might actually have something screwy with my load order which could be conflicting. im still at work btw lol. This is my mod load order currently as i can remember from memory.

It should be a repeater. I bet you are correct; some other mod is causing a conflict.
Look for any that contain the menu.ini file; I know several in your list do. You probably have to copy the relevant section in the GWX file to whatever mod you want to use that also has the file.

About 2 yrs ago I made a tried to get GWX to work and I was never successful. I kept having problems with the attack map with Ahnenerbe / Tycho's patch and gave up out of frustration. I became intrigued with FotRSU and that's were I've been all this time.

A friend gave me the remasted director's cut of Das Boot and I heard the call of the Battle of the Atlantic again. I'm running TWoS and enjoying it, but it does have some limitations. I feel like I've never gave GWX a fair shake and I'm gearing up to install it. A couple questions:

-- I'm running Win 7 and the Grey Wolves site only has instructions for XP and Vista. Is there
some else needed for Win 7?

-- My version of SH3 is a Steam download. Can I assume that it's patched to 1.4?

-- Is the Large Address Aware utility required to run GWX?

-- Has the Ahnenerbe GUI become easier to install?

Any help will be appreciated.....

Not much help but:

1. Don't know.
2. Yes.
3. No but it is required to run certain mods including Ahnenerbe GUI.
4. Don't know, don't use it.

New PC, installed SH3 via Steam, it shows v1.4 running.

Tried to install GWX but I get this error message.

Game has no mods, was just installed clean.


Ideas? :k_confused:

Just replied to your PM but you made no mention of Steam in your message :doh:

My reply was in regard to the game disc. Sorry but no experience with Steam.

Did you point the GWX installer to
C:\Program files (86) \Steam\steamapps\common\silent hunter 3
The installer will NOT look for the correct location on it's own.

I don't use Steam. Nor do I run Win 10.
I also avoid using the Program folders for as much software as I can.

Right, ok, I tried pointing the install there but seem like SH3 doesn't live there.

You may need to dig around to find the proper folder.
:hmmm:

Use Explorer to check each folder until you find the SH3.exe
