My squirrelmania started with the same error. The one animal who triggered it all for me was (and still is!) a squirrel that for certain reasons I thought to be a female, and so I named "her" Kira. Actually some months later it became undeniably clear that "she" indeed is a "he". And now in his fifth year living! Statistics say not even one in a hundred European red squirrels get this old in the wild. His assumed brother Taro also still is around. The third of the three siblings nutketeers, Sari, I am uncertain about. I currently have a dozen squirrels, more than ever before, it has become impossible for me to identify them all reliably. |
