Loving every model released in this thread, you're the man Von! :up: :up:
I'm off to script some of these beauties to the campaign layers. |
Thanks, mate!
A small advice (from my personal experience :x ): When you try to mod campaign... backup the precedent! :up: |
I love your big ocean liners..., but some big unique merchants would be an interesting addition:hmm:
|
For now i've a couple of ideas ^_^
Some ideas i've for now:
1) SS America (for a request); this can be my returno to ocean liners ^_^ This is a preview http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/8123/rowap9.jpg 2) A Duilio class battleship, based on Warspite and Roma model http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...icostruito.jpg And others... |
VanDos! I think the both Ideas are very good.:rock:Listen. If these two You made compatible also with the stock game files , as always, it will be great. I based on a stock game mostly, but I adding some things to my game.:roll:. For me, Your work is always awesome:D.

Your SS America looks wonderful, VonDos! :up:

How about an early British Carrier :hmm:
|
Woah, that American lady screams tonnage!:up:
And looks very pretty! |
Not to be a total pain. But as my sig may suggest, I have quite a bit of interst in United States Lines ships, mainly the SS United States, but the only way I learned about the Big U was first discovering the wreck of the America
William Francis Gibbs had a soft spot for big Funnels, and her had a partictular design in mind for the America, and later the United States, although the design was altered on the United States after seeing the America sail for 8 years prior to the SS United States project taking off. An early model of the SS United States can be seen in "SS United States: A picture history" sporting the same design for the funnels as the America Both ships called for a largly tear drop shapped funnel, mainly so the streamlining on the ship was complete, but the white half of the America's funnel was also an oval shape. http://ssunitedstatesconservancy.org...ricaFunnel.jpg Later on the United States, the oval half was done away with, leaving the Big U with her tear drop shaped funnels, which still stand tall on the Philadelphia waterfront today. http://ssunitedstatesconservancy.org...d2-180x179.jpg http://ssunitedstatesconservancy.org...MG-278x206.jpg Edit Here is a picture of the West Point http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/mul..._at_anchor.jpg |
Von Dos,
The S.S. America looks great! Thank you so much for modeling the America. My Dad, who is 85, sailed to Italy on the America with the 10th Mountain Division during WW2. He speaks of his voyage on the America a lot and will be thrilled to see her sailing once again! Any possibility of making a version with the grey and black war camoflage she wore during the war? I can't wait to see the America in game!:D |
America will follow Duilio, soon ^_^
Camo skins? mmm i'll try, yes! |
VonDos, I love all of your ships! You are one of the greatest ship builders we have. :rock:
There is a technical issue I hope you can clear up: While working on installing you Cunard Aquitania Armed Liner, I noticed a discrepancy between your entry and the GWX entry in EnglishNames.cfg. In GWX the entry reads: Code:
LUS=HMT Aquitania Code:
LUS=Cunard Aquitania ocean liner |
Hmmmmm
Laconia and Normandie causes CTD:s...... Removing them solves the problem.:hmm: The others work fine. Now where have I screwed up?:doh: You say ALL are jsgme compatible. I have the newest "armed" versions. Maybe my faylt being installing via jsgme + adding the text in "english names". Will take a look tonight again.;) Thanks for a beautiful mod package.:up: /OB |
@Graf Paper
Hi! Thanks ^^ It's the same; you can call her also "LUS=ship X"; her will be desplayed with the name you prefer. @GOZO Thank you; This is strange; they've been used by some users, never cause CTD; please continue tests, and refer me ^_^ If there is a problem we are here for solve! |
I had some CTD's when I had the community units also. I was suspecting either the HOS or LUS from Vondos. But then after I removed community units and reinstalled VonDos's ships, no more CTDs.
Also; I remember someone pointing out some of the old ZIPs had the wrong folder structure so when you JSGME enable them you had a CTD. For example my Old Hospital Ship was like that. I THINK VonDos FIXED THESE already. So if you downloaded before this, check the folders for these two ship inside MODS.. |
Thank you for clarifying that entry for Aquitania, VD. :)
I've been working on combining the ships from the AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix, Community Units, and all of your ships into a single mod for my install of GWX, just to keep it simple and not clutter JSGME with too many mods. Part of that effort includes alphabetically organizing all the entries in EnglishNames.cfg. Here's my observations: There are a few duplicate entries between the AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix and Community Units. To my knowledge, listing a ship twice can cause CTDs. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this. There are also instances where a duplicate listing is ambiguous, such as: Code:
MSTrawler=Isles class Lastly, there are entries that seem correct but there appears to be no matching folder for the ship in '..data\Sea'. The way I understand it, any ship that is called in one of the campaign layers must match its data exactly as listed in '..data\Sea', '..data\Roster', and EnglishNames.cfg. This is especially problematic with the random layer, Campaign_RND.mis, where the ships called range across the entire list and one single error will cause a CTD. Compounding the aggravation is that the randomness used means you may go 5 minutes or 5 months before a broken ship is called by Campaign_RND.mis. The scripted layers are not usually the trouble, since only specific ships are called. Any ideas you can share with me, VonDos, would be deeply appreciated. |
A small idea can be this: open your "shipname".cfg in your ship folder; for example nlus_.cfg in data\sea\nlus_ folder and you'll be able to know roster real name (that is also first ship identifier in campaign layers ^_^
|
I've tried that. Comparing the .cfg file in the ship's folder to the entries in EnglishNames.cfg leads me to two conclusions...
Some of this might have been avoided if EnglishNames.cfg wasn't such a mess. That's why I'm making it alphabetical, to keep better track of the entries. Thanks for the tip about the name in the ship's .cfg file, VD! :up: P.S. Shouldn't I keep the GWX entry 'LUS=HMT Aquitania' instead so your new Aquitania will show up in the campaign missions or is the 'LUS' tag what is used by the campaign so that 'LUS=Cunard Aquitania ocean liner' will still show Aquitania in all her glory without the need to edit the campaign files? Ok..time for bed despite my overactive mind causing me to be restless. My eyeballs are bleeding from staring at text editors and files all night and half of the previous day. |
