I'm a bit confused now...
Because most sources I found, stated that U-505 only used 4 emblems and the 2nd flotilla emblem isn't one of them.
The other thing that confuses me is that U-552 was in a completely different flotilla group :06:
It might be just me, because I'm a bit tired at the moment and perhaps not learned enough on the subject yet :88)
I hope I don't sound too stupid

Both U-505 and U-522 were in the 2nd and 4th Flotillas. The 4th was a training Flotilla and was not assigned an emblem.

I also missed the 2nd flotilla emblem, even though it's visible on the picture in my initial post :hmm2:.
At the time of capture, U-505 had the seashell and flotilla emblems.

Haha, well then we have to wait for the man who posted the post in the first place. He should be able to give us an answer :haha:

In another photo, from the same series that Desert Ghost's port con shot is from, of the capture from the bow the 2nd flotilla emblem does appear to be there; it is mistakenly labeled as an aft shot; that boat needed a paint job!:yep:

Oh wow... I really should do more research next time
Anyways I think I should go to bed now and get some rest so I can try my luck again tomorrow if there will be more questions.

I thank you guys for all this feedback, at least I learned a few new u-505 facts today :salute:

biamaku 11-29-13 07:12 AM

Great notice!!

nikimcbee 11-29-13 11:40 AM

So it's all tied up...
Newcastle United 2, Meduza 2

We'll try a tie breaker. (Open to everyone)

Overtime question #5:
Why did the U-505 go to Chicago?
