- you can flood torpedo-tubes, selecting the next one, closes it.
- haven't found a way to get depth under keel.

Yikes! All this misplaced excitement. Even EA has seen the light and moved in a less offensive position toward its customers. Why pay to be abused? You can get abused for free!

When I woke up this morning, the SH5-dvd had arrived. However, I noticed that there was no cable-tv/ internet, so
that was just typical, hehe. A view hours later the net was back, and I was ready to fire up SH5.
(The game did install without internet connection.)
- install with english or german voices
- choose qwerty or azerty keyboard layout
- total installation with english voices is about 6.1GB
- Seems like you can have your own custom poster-picture, this is found in the CaptainPicture-folder
- there's a mission editor

Where do i find those voice settings and azerty settings because my game is full english and qwerty but i have a azerty :( help me please.

You have to install it again, and choose it from the install-menu, maybe you have to choose custom installation, if you don't see it. I hoped you could choose to install both voice-packs and choose one from the menu, but no ...

Flooding: I tried to dive as deep as I could, got messages about hulls and flooding, but I saw nothing visually, then the screen faded to black, and the camera rised to the surface. Hm. maybe we only see flooding when we get damage from the enemy?

crush depth = death. You'd need to be damaged by weapons to live long enough see flooding, I'd think.

^^^ Yeah.....just surface into the middle of an escorted convoy in broad daylight....you should see some flooding then.:ahoy:

This is why i never pre-order a game anymore.

Speaking of crush depth and implosion.

I vaguely recall reading (or was it perhaps while watching a movie) that on implosion, the air get compressed and then the gases ignites and turns into an exploding fireball.

Any expert opinions on what happens when a submarine implodes at great depths?

dangrey 02-27-10 02:42 PM

I played and cut off the internet connection. It took about 20-25 sec. before I got a connection error message. I turned the modem on again, and the game resumed.

That's called dieseling and happens when you compress air in the presence of a fuel, so unless you have a fuel leak (air has to be mixed with the fuel), then it won't happen.

When the hull starts to fail due to pressure, the hull deforms from a cylindrical cross-section, which is the strongest cross section, to a cross section with a flat part, so further failure is rapid. The floor adds bracing along the cross section of the hull, so the failure point is above or below the centreline. It's ceiling meets floor time in the blink of an eye, with the crushing pressure of the weight of sea at that depth.

OK since the game is out I now pull the anti-SHV sign from my Sig, but I'm still laying low on the subject of buying it, mainly because of OSP.

Lousy %*#$*$# 24/7 Web connection anyway. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y11...Grumble1-4.gif

Good hunting all of you.
