MS getting smarter :)

His comments were echoed by Microsoft which said it would update Windows in future in an "ongoing manner".
Instead of new stand-alone versions, Windows 10 would be improved in regular instalments, the firm said.
Good to know.

Microsoft Wraps Its Windows 10 Pitch, Here’s What You Need To Know

Microsoft announced today that Windows 10 will be available on July 29. The date matches prior leaks and promises from the company regarding when the new operating system will touch down. The release schedule also puts Windows 10 into the market before the back-to-school PC sales cycle, and, of course, the holiday season.

The software company is, in other words, putting itself in as good a spot as it can be to get Windows 10 into the hands of as many PC buyers as possible. The company also announced a ‘reserve‘ program that allows people to sign up, in a sense, for Windows 10. The new code, of course, will be a free upgrade for most PC users.
New laptop in 60 days....

I got the offer today. I installed a new version of 7 over my Vista(that had not real issues for me but slowly losing support) last year.

If MS will provide me with free OS I will certainly take them up on it.

Oh dang, it's being promoted by Bill himself :o

So, has it been determined if this will mess with my Windows 7 license? It will still be active if I do this magic upgrade, and will still work if I install 7 again after 10 blows itself up?

Sadly... Many of the applications I use don't run on Linux so, stuck with Windows.

Well I'll certainly give it a spin Chris because I can always revert back to my W7 installation disc if I don't rate W10 :)

Neal , I'd stick with the Win95 machine

STEED 06-06-15 03:33 AM

I am not going to bother as percentage of it I have just a rejigged look another percentage of it I hate and the rest yea not bad. As I'm 80% against it they can stuff it, I will stick with Win8.1 thank you. Anyway it could muck up my PC no thanks.

Haha, that's awesome. I'm a real holdout myself, my gaming computer still runs XP, and if I had a choice, so would my work laptop. I have no idea if Windows will get this right, especially in light of their past performance. They are about 50% for efficient O/S, in my book.

Windows: 3.0: B-
Win95: B+
Win 98: B
Win 2000: C-
Win XP: A
Win Vista: B-
Win 7: A+
Win 8: F
Win 9: MIA
Win 10: ?

If MS could just solve the problem I always have, that a PC will begin to slow down and get really crappy performance after a few years, needing some kind of extraordinary maintenance, like backing up, reformatting, and reinstalling everything, I would be happy.:ping:
