I have bought this game for PC yesterday, after a first run I highly remember the game Silent Service II on which this game is based (e.g. the contact reports and logs). SS2 - but with much better grafics, so I consider this a very good remake especially the damage and repair section. Also thanks to include 3 difficulty levels.

However there are serious technical issues, especially if you run on Windows 10, so here are my comments:

- In Windows 10 you absolutely need to run the game as Administrator, else you will have grafic glitches and you cannot even start Training or War Patrol.

- The game at its standard grafic settings runs crazy at 400+ framerate all the time, a killer even for good GPUs. I run on a GTX 1660 with 6GB VRAM and temperature of CPU goes up to 80, GPU up to 70, still acceptable but it could run much smoother than that.

I advice setting a framerate cap with a tool like MSI-Afterburner, set a cap to 60 or whatever your monitor supports in HZ.

- I have watched a German let's-play video for the PC which states 'version 1.2.4.112', my most recent game version I can get is 1.2.3.110. If there is a newer one, please supply it in the download section of the purchase link (non-Steam version).

- The Steam version seems to have more features, I can see a picture of the submarine interior with a table and a map that I cannot display in my 1.2.3.110 version.

I hope this is helpful, and I would appreciate any feedbacks about the newest version. Thanks for a good sub game :)

Thanks for your feedback! :)

Yeah we don't have any throttling in for faster machines so it will likely consume all it can get. Need to reconsider this.

Where did you get it if not from Steam? Itch.io? Could be that I did not upload the latest version there. My bad...

Hello Xaron,
yes I've bought and downloaded the game from Itch.io. There are 2 versions that I can download, the newest (but apparently not the latest) is 1.2.3.110. If this is not the latest, thanks very much to upload the latest version.

I'm able to play the game fine by setting a framerate cap of 60 on my fast gaming laptop. Also my last concern about saying 'Steam version has apparently more features' is false, I get this famous picture when on TBT or Periscope and then diving which will pop-up the sub interior.

I think the game, despite the bad reviews on Steam (Steam is not the world), has big potential because it's far less complex than the popular Silent Hunter series, yet challenging if you could improve the following:

- Make a better free camera mode that goes further distance from your sub, and include a camera view for 'view target'. Your game interface is very well suited for that. However: Do not show targets which are not detected by your sub crew.

- It would be fine if planes attacking the sub would be implemented, for example planes escorting big fleets; or planes appearing if player is close to enemy airport or takes too long when confronting a group of merchands (they send an alert!), all this if planes have enough range to join the group to defend them;

- A submarine log to tell the past sinkings and achievements;

- More historical bases for the submarine to depart from, plus maybe some historical missions that you can play as quickplay.

- A depth gauge for submarines in late 1943 and beyond to measure the water depth.

I know that implementing these factors is a lot of work, I would pay for it in a new comming game, as probably would do many others if well presented.

I bought this a while back on Steam. I installed and ran it but found it incredibly bad graphics, poor controls and not visually exciting. Got a refund. SH4 for me, much much better :Kaleun_Salute:

Yes sure, but you are comparing a Ferrari (SH4) with a bicycle... It's clear that SD cannot match SH4 because it's intended for average audience and primarily on IOS devices, while SH4 (and SH3 & SH5) are complex sub simulations for PC only, also with a AAA price tag when it was released.

I know and have played SH4 which I also own, I like it a lot of course, IMO the best subsim for the Pacific area.

Nice pictures, Sung :up:

What I most like in the game are the grafics, especially the water and the camera views. It's fine to hear that the game goes on with new units, good work!

This game remains unplayable.

Between the Ghost "Ship"s and the inability to move on the overview map if an enemy ship is present, esp if the enemy is running away faster than you can catch it, this otherwise interesting game is just too buggy. V 1.2.8 #1011
