Alright, so technically I joined in July, but I haven't actually gotten around to posting, so...here goes nothing!

My name is Shmun, and you bunch of persuasive jerks won me over. :P I had a scant passing interest in submarines before watching jefmajor's Let's Play of Silent Hunter 4. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to give it a shot myself. Searching for information about the game, I found a link to this very forum. "Ooh, that looks useful." A few days later, I'm hooked. Three campaigns in to SH4, and a consistently updated knowledge base about submarines in general. I fear for what the future may hold, as quickly as this has grabbed me. I'm gonna lose friends and families to underwater metal tubes! Curse you all, you magnificent bas- right, family friendly!

So here's to you, folks, and the knowledge base I've launched myself into!

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

But be fairly warned: After some time this forum will become just as addictive as the games themselves. :D

Welcome Shmun....did you hear the racket Steve and I created a few years back in Houston? :DL

Hi All
I'm new here and live in Manchester UK. I'm an ex Royal Marine my last job was with the Fleet Protection Group looking after security for the Brit bombers(boomers to the those of the american persuasion:03:) and HK's at Faslane Naval Base in Scotlandshire. I've been a subsim fan ever since, at the moment I have 668i and Silent Hunter 3 4 and 5 loaded on my PC.

Hi, everybody.

As an former soldier, I'm naturally interested by military simulators. But in this particular case, I will only speak about subs.

It appears that it exists a soft named "Silent Hunter 5". Some affirm that "the game must be linked with the Ubi.com, and the PC must be connected during the entire season with the Internet". It must be a joke !!! If not, it's hardly compatible with the French laws. In this case, only one solution : boycotting ...

Cheers.

Welcome aboard, and thanks for the intro. We do not do boycotts here.
