Looks like a great tool, however unable to enter a contact, unable to toggle a node to a contact to be able to calculate an intercept. running windows 8. any suggestions? Thanks |

This seems like a great tool, but I am having trouble getting the handle on it, not being mathematically inclined and all.
I keep seeing notices of v1.2 20090420, but every link I click on indicates that I would be downloading MoBo_BeTa.zip.
Can someone direct me to the right page to download the newest release?
Thanks! |

My last post was 3/27/2013 about this.

I use paper manuevering boards and this app works really great in order to assist my understanding of relative motion situations.
I can't believe it is still in "beta" though.... |

Wow, it's been 10 years since I created Mobo. How time does fly... |

Hi all,
I am looking into whether I could use this mobo app to help illustrate CPA calculations while teaching small groups use of radar for navigating / collision avoidance IRL. Using image of a real maneuvering board as background.
Am currently using http://www.marinermath.com/Radar-Solution.php but want to model the graphical soln and manipulate it with a mouse afterwards.
Whilst I think I can see all the functions I need, what I am struggling with is putting them all together in the right order, with minimal keystrokes.
I appreciate that this is not the intended use case but wonder if anyone has any tips for doing this or is aware of any walk-throughs etc that explain how to calculate the CPA given own ship course, heading and speed and 2 relative bearings and range for a target?

This is the 'missing link' to SH3, SH4 and any other sim that requires a nautical maneuvering board ! An incredibly powerful and simple tool to use. It will give you a whole new dimension to your play!
It's very low on memory and cpu requirements, has a very simple manual and it's easy to use. It eliminated all the calculations I was doing by hand with a nomograph and a TADS slide rule. I can now know I am going to intercept a convoy at an exact point!
Bravo Zulu to Aaron Blood and Lurker for building such a powerful tool! |
