File Name: Floating Dock (7.84 MB) Download

Description
English Version
Generally:
This MOD offers two floating dock for the implementation in Silent Hunter 3: a normal version and
a lowered version. Depending on skins and docked ships, the docks should only be used for
Germany. The docks can carry ships with a max. length of 130 m. If there is a demand for other
types, i can build larger and/or „neutral“ docks too.
Installation:
This MOD is JSGME-ready. It is recommended to use the JoneSoft MOD-Enabler. Otherwise copy
the folder „data“ to the folder „Silent-HunterIII“. And do not forget to save your „old“ files.
Content:
– floating dock, normal (folder „BuV_Dock1“)
– floating dock, lowered (folder „BuV_Dock2“)
– Dock-Equipment (folder „Library“; Equipment1.dat)
– shipyard staff (folder „Library“, Bootsmann1.dat – Bootsmann5.dat, OfficerJAP.dat)
– docked german destroyer (folder „Library“, DOCKED_DESTROYER_TYPE34.dat)
– docked german submarine Type XXI (folder „Library“, DOCKED_SUB.dat)
– docked small merchant (folder „Library“, DOCKED_MERCHANT_SMALL.dat)
– docked large merchant (folder „Library“, DOCKED_MERCHANT_LARGE.dat)
Function:
Classification. The dock is classified as UnitTyp=12. UnitType=12 represents the „minelayer“, a
type which is not used in stock SH3 and the „super-MODs“ i know. So, such a classification will
not clash with other ships, convoys and task forces in SH3. But you still can change the
classification to „UnitType=105“ (environmental). The advantage of„UnitType=12“ is:
● dock can be build in as a „Docked Ship“ (in „MissionEditor“) - this gives more „stability“ in
the Campaign_SCR.mis
● dock (and the docked ship) will show „Flag“
● the dock is shown on the navigation/attack maps via shape file.
Speed. The maximun speed of the dock is limited to 1 knot in the SIM-file. In the CFG file (folder
„Sea/BuV_Dock*) speed is fixed by 0 knots. So you can not forget to reduce speed to 0 knots while
implementing the dock via „MissionEditor“. Additionally activate the option „Docked Ship“ (in
„MissionEditor“).
ShipYard-Sound. I have added two audio-knots to play the „yard-sound“ of stock SH3
(amb_SubmarineYard.wav.) You will hear the sound even at a maxium speed of 0 knots of the dock.
Docked ships /submarine. Only use the included ships/subs as „docked ship“. They are cloned from
the original ships, so the file-names, object-names and object-Identifier vary from the original units
and will prevent CTD.
EQP-file (Equipment-stearing). The dock has 5 „LoadOut“-Versions (see „MissionEditor“):
● Basic: german destroyer Type 34 (original SH3)
● Submarine: german sub Typ XXI (original SH3)
● Merchant: small merchant (converted from SH4 „Small Old Steamer“)
● Large Merchant: large merchant (converted from SH4 „Nagara“)
● Empty: without any ship/sub.
The shipyard staff is embedded via none-3D-knods and will appear on some knods on the docked
ship/sub too.
Skins. The dock is ready for multiskin. Both versions have 3 skins which will vary only by the
displayed number. Note: the slogan on the wall of Dock 1 does not stand for the author's opinion.
EnglishNames.cfg: I think we do not need a special name for the dock. The „MissionEditor“
displays „BuV_Dock1“ (resp. BuV_Dock2) and the maps are showing the name „Schwimmdock“.
That should be enough
BTW: BuV stands for Blohm und Voss, a very famous german shipyard.
