Redesigned T2 Tanker v1.0.

By Iambecomelife.

Instead of a new creation, this is intended to be an improved release of the T-2 tanker featured in default Silent Hunter 3. It is also representative of several classes of 9,000-11,000 ton tankers built in the U.S. between roughly 1935 and 1945.

The vessel was created using Sansal’s Pack3d extractor and Skwas's S3Ditor. It is compatible with any stock or super-modded version of Silent Hunter III but the renown values are based on the GWX supermod. Features a panel for neutrality markings and hull text. May include data files modified by members of the GWX team or Sergbuto (sorry for being ambiguous but the "heritage" of several ships is unclear). Tested using SH3 1.4B.

Manual Installation Instructions:

1)-Extract the contents of the folder Data to your Sh3 main directory. **NOTE: If you are a Merchant Fleet Mod beta tester and have the old T13A installed, let the new install overwrite the existing files. When prompted by Windows to replace existing files click "yes".

2)-IMPORTANT! Open Data\Sea\Englishnames.cfg (or Germannames.cfg depending on your language) and add the following line:

T13A=T2 SE A1 Tanker

*********************************

JSGME Installation Instructions:

1) Place the extracted main folder in your MODS folder and activate it like any other mod.

2)-IMPORTANT! Open Data\Sea\Englishnames.cfg (or Germannames.cfg depending on your language) and add the following line:

T13A=T2 SE A1 Tanker

If there are generic entries for U.S. tankers in your campaign, this vessel has a good chance of showing up at any time during the conflict. It is quite fast and receives progressively heavier armament over the course of the war – after 1942 it will be too well-armed to attack with your deck gun.

You can easily mod it into existing missions/campaign layers but PLEASE back up your files. I am not responsible for any damage incurred as a result of using this mod.

There is a package of more than 20 skins that can be manually copied and pasted into the main T13A folder. Use the skins from 1942-1945 to represent camoflaged ships. These skins can be mixed in any combination you want - just keep the original 7zip file in case you accidentally overwrite or delete one of your favorites.

If you are a Merchant Fleet Mod beta tester be sure to copy and paste the new skins into the MFMSkin folder. That way they won't be overwritten by the old T13A skins when you activate the randomizing batch file.

This may not be used in payware modifications or reused without attribution. In fact, several of the textures contain registered trademarks, so anyone who uses it in a payware mod could be in serious legal trouble. If included in freeware mods, please give due credit. I can't respond to PM requests for assistance - please post all questions, comments, and flames on the subsim.com forums.

The tanker was successfully tested for the mast collapse CTD bug. However, modding the ship's DAT file any further can have unpredictable results and might crash your game. Again, I take no responsibility for any changes you decide to make.

Known Problems:

-The engine compartment is amidships, instead of astern. Target the midships section to stop the vessel's engines. Privateer has offered to help correct this.

-Because of node constraints most ventilation ducts are dummies. Don't bother shooting at them; all but a few of them are indestructible.

-The reflection from the ship is still the default Liberty Ship reflection. I will try to correct this a later version.

-Draft and other measurements have been altered from historical values due to various aesthetic limitations of the SH3 game engine. The game seems to render ships as too long and narrow for some reason - perhaps due to the "fishbowl" camera effect. The statistics in Museum remain the same, however.

Special thanks to Racerboy for his SH3 eqp tool, as well as Privateer, Sergbuto, AG124, and all other members who have offered assistance in the past.
