Description
ACM - Another COmbiMod - v1.1.0 November 29 2008

First of all, thanks a lot to all the GUI modders who created pretty much everything you will find in this combimod, OLC, joegrundman, Hitman, Nicolas, Pisces, Sale, JonZ and many others, and for allowing to modify all of this at will.
Thanks also to DoubleFox for his very nice ship silhouettes.

The end result is more or less this:

-OLC's main interface + features, less the central TDC panel
-Hitman's optics
-Nicolas' TDC
-joegrundman & Hitman's circular sliderule

+some rework from me to make it all work together and suit my taste

Some things worth noting:

-I removed the coloured marks on the AOB finder, IMO they give much more accuracy than what real life Kaleuns had and I felt I was kind of cheating. With the coloured marks it was possible to find a pretty good firing solution with only one observation, now since the scope marks are more spaced and thus less accurate, you will want to plot your target for a bit and make several observations to get a decent firing solution.

-The Attack Disc/Angriffscheibe toggle button becomes visible when you press the "TDC Autoupdate" button, it works exactly the same as in OLC GUI, which means it resets torpedo solutions when you use it.

-You can't set the torpedoes less than 3m deep. I think it's a NYGM feature ? It will increase the risk of a torpedo passing under a ship in very bad weather. Without that, you could set your torpedoes to 1m depth in very bad weather to make sure it would hit. With that depth the torpedo would breach the surface which in real life would most likely make it lose its course, while in game the torpedoes are pretty much laser guided.

-Enabling the "auto identification" option will cost some realism points, if you play at 100% realism with this mod you will have to ID ships yourself.

-There's 2 "quick reference" charts available in the UZO & attack scope view, with some of the most common merchants, in case you don't want or don't have the time to sift through the ID book to find a match.

-No more range marks in the UZO view, you will have to either ask your WO or guesstimate. As far as I know the real UZO only had one vertical line with to marks, so it could be used only to estimate speed using the fixed wire method, and aim torpedoes at your targets. The rest of the solution had to be gathered by plotting.

-The "Attack Map" (F6 screen) is replaced by a full TDC representation, intended to use along with the Observation Periscope.

-The Observation Periscope has a circular sliderule attached, different than the AOB finder on the Attack Periscope. This sliderule is mostly for target plotting purpose (see klh's excellent manual), although it can also act as AOB finder but in a less intuitive way.

-The intend behind all this is to balance the use of the 2 different periscopes for the player:

Observation scope + sliderule + separate TDC: allows for long range observation, careful and precise target plotting. With this kind of attack you would have your firing solution ready long before the actual attack, so all you need during the attack is to lock your targets and fire your torpedoes using the commands available on the side panel.

Attack Periscope + AOB Finder: unlike the sliderule, the AOB Finder allows to keep a target in sight all the time. Although the smaller view and different scope marks make it less precise, it's perfect for "snap shots" when you need to find a firing solution quickly.

I hope this will make sense to you as it does for me !

Installation:

It's exactly the same as with OLC GUI 1.2.7

-"ACM Core Files" and "ACM Dark Files" go to your SH3/MODS folder.

-Enable "ACM Core Files" (required) and then enable "ACM Dark Files" (optionnal) if you want the low contrast interface.

-The "U-boat" folder goes in your SH3 Commander folder, even if you previously had OLC's GUI files (I added a new file).

The mod is GWX 2.1 compatible and should work with any supermod or stock, although it might break some of the changes in the text descriptions (nothing that WinMerge can't solve in a few minutes!)

How to use it ?

If you are not familiar with OLC GUI/U-Jagd tools, I recommend watching OLC's excellent video tutorial:
http://files.filefront.com/OLC+GUI+V.../fileinfo.html

A wealth of information on the Attack Disc by klh:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=126824

And if you want more, use the subsim.com forum search function, "search by username", and look for threads started by Hitman & joegrundman for lots of info on manual targetting and historical data.

Hey this Mod is awesome!
I have only one question, is there anyway to get the compass lines around the Uboat back when you zoom to it? I'm still sort if a newb when it comes to it.
