Description
This edition of OTC 1.5 is compatible with "Run Silent, Run Deep Campaign v502" (the version compatible with TMO). The download server is from SubSim.com.This modification is for Silent Hunter 4, Wolves of the Pacific patched to the 1.5 version, it is a comprehensive correction to the optical game world. It was found that the views of the various periscope and optical screens were incorrectly displayed in size and magnification resulting in inaccurate manually found range when the Stadimeter or Telemeter divisions (the periscope lens hash marks) were used for this purpose. Once the world view had been corrected, additional tools and real life tactics could be implemented for solving target firing solutions.

Additionally, an in-game Omnimeter and Range Dial tool were designed to aid in using the new optical views, and to allow a manual range input to the TDC. This in turn, provided an additional desire to have the radar units work as intended to help in determining range to a found target. Rework of the Radar units display to provide an accurate range and bearing is accomplished by an “overlay” for the screens. The stock radars did not show objects at viewable distances, let alone further distant objects. The radar parameters have been changed to allow for them to work as expected.

Various ship issues have been addressed from correcting the “Height Reference Point” dimension; to acceleration issues; to centering the stadimeter focal position; to carrier/land base aircraft ranges and plane makeup. It is hoped to have the stock game perform more as its real life counterparts would expect to do.

How to install

Optical Targeting Correction is compatible with “JonesSoft Generic Mod Enabler” (JSGME). The OTC download is compressed, so a decompression application like WinRAR is needed to “extract” the files and have them placed in the “MODS” folder of JSGME. Each of the listed mod folders is separate from one another, so you must “extract” each one (depending on your choice) to JSGME. The mods name will appear in the left hand column of JSGME ready for “activation” by moving it to the right hand column. Start the game once you have closed JSGME.

OTC must be installed when you are “in port”, between a mission of an existing game campaign or, you may wish to restart a new campaign with the OTC mod loaded. Do not replay a “saved” mission with the OTC loaded unless the “saved” mission had the mod loaded when it was saved. Saved points are critical to what particular game files are being used at the time of saving. By changing the game files, the “saved” game information will not find the correct parameters and usually a CTD is the result.

Hello there!

Winrar error: "Checksum error in 1.5_Optical Targeting Correction 031312 for RSRDCv502\Data\Sound\amb_SubmarineInterior.wav. The file is corrupt."

7zip gives the same error.

Any possibility to reupload the file? Thanks.

This mod is pure gold! It has taken my game to a completely higher level authenticity! I have read books like Dick O'Kane's 'Clear the Bridge' and wondered how they were making accurate shots out past 2000 yds. Now I know.

Thanks Scurvy
